Ok people I am ready for the final strip down and I'm starting paint tomorrow.
So, what's the paint gonna be then Graham?
Outrageous or subtle?
I'm really hoping you stay away from the "Pimp My Ride" kind of colour schemes and keep it tasteful but, your bike so I guess you know what you're up to eh?
Keep the photos coming,
Cheers
Steve

Steve if my BB come out looking from Pimpmy ride I would stick my head in a microwave and press start. Frame will be a titium colour , swingarm satin black or polished can't deside on that one ( what do people think ) the rest of the body work will be a very deep black with a couple of sutle panels of carbon showing though. Front mudgaurd and hugger staying carbon. The black I am using has a very slight hint of blue which for some clever resson make it look even blacker.

Well, I'm biased aren't I?

Had my swingarm powder coated a dark grey mettalic - to almost match the frame which isn't truly black as standard and I don't have the space to strip the bike down to get the frame done proper black!!

So my vote is powdercoat the swingarm rather than polish it, then again, I'm very lazy with the polishing hence most of my bike being black (apart from the painted bits of course but, that's an ongoing story) even the headers on the Micron 4/1 despite them being stainless as standard!!!

Like the sound of the blue/black paintwork, you still having standard logos or keeping it secret as to what you've created?

Keep at it, any spare bits you know where to send them :D

I for one am interested, it's nice to see how the other half live :crying: but, tonight might be my lucky night on the lottery so who knows what tomorrow might bring?
Cheers Steve,

Optimistic aren't I? I only want one winning ticket, that's not too much to ask is it?

Graham,

I have a stupid question ... Did Honda ever plate the cylinders? Are they NicaSil plated or are they sleeved ?

Thanks

First off ,Dez carb models are just sleeved and I’m 99% sure injection models are just sleeved as well when I had mine bored to 1197cc (Carb model) it was just a straight bore and honing.
So had a long day yesterday. The frame prepped (how many little pocket and corners !!!!!!), 2 coats of etch primer and 2 coats of 2k primer. Very please so far. The plan is wet flat all the out side faces and scotch pad all the inside faces after work tomorrow and hopefully get in my mate spray booth Tuesday after work for base coat and lacquer. Still not sure about the swing arm, Satin black or polished!!!!!!
Still toying with the injected turbo idea . I already have the turbo , injection rail off a 2005 blackbird, loads of stainless pipe bends and Stainless welding kit to make the exhaust manifold and an enough alloy sheet to make the plenum. But my bird was a carb model so I would have to come up with some management system and I don’t have the cash to go out and buy an emerald or motech system , but I can get a Dyna 2000 and a power commander second hand for about £300, Is this a good idea , should I wait until I can afford the motech or should I just stick with the flat slide carbs

Just in case you’re wondering why I have such a big workshop with welder, lathe, milling machine and spray equipment and lots of contacts in the machining and motor trades when I’m a partner in a building company. As a side line I Build updated classic car for people, see attached pics of the one I just finished for a guy . It’s being shown at the VBOA show at Billing ( England) this weekend and is being featured in Total Vauxhall magazine later this year. Bikes are my passion , Building and cars earn me money. And yes I have a very understanding partner soon to be my wife that understand that I work 60 to 70 hours a week because I love what I do.

I don't have the standard cards any more and I don't know how my flatslides would respond to being blown.

I remember my sister having one back in the 80's but, after hitting a fully grown dear in it she didn't have much of a Chevette left I can tell you!!

Anyway, stop messing about with cars and get the swingarm painted!!! Or polished if that's what you really think it needs
