I've read its not recommended on a 5.5" rim, a 6" rim yes. Although there are some Blackbird owners with the 190 fitted.
If you put the tyre size into the "Search Community" box at the top it will bring up posts from other lads and the information you want should be there.

To me it will fit that because 190/55/17 have flatter profile and even more road grip plus modest in lean posture but is will have slow steering response

The profile looks flatter but I suspect that is because it's based on the 6 inch rim. Narrowing that rim 1/2 inch will make the tire crown more. That will remove the flatter profile you would have gained.

I have read that on a 5.5" rim, the tyre bead does not "grip/fit" the rim as good as it should and depending on your riding style, there's a chance of the tyre coming off the rim.

I want to change back tire to 190/55/17 was wondering if this can be done on stock rim.
I have the 190/50 version on my BB. The shop supervisor would not fit a 190/55 version to a 5.5" rim (it is a massive tyre and requires a 6" rim to seat properly at the bead).

Even with the 190/50 profile there is no real gain as the tyre is forced into a tighter curve and so you will have permanent 'chicken strips' that can't ever touch the road.

Sure, fit a 190/50 like me, but truthfully, a 180/55 is all that's needed.

I must point out the difference between a 190/50 and a 190/55........I have had both types - the 55 on my KTM1290 and the 50 profile on the BB.

The 190/55 is a whopper of a tyre.....it has a bigger rolling diameter and deeper side walls. The 190/50 has a smaller OD than the stock 180/55, and it's sidewalls are much shorter......the 50 profile sits flatter and the 55 profile is taller and more V shaped compared to the 50........but it's all academic anyway since no one will squeeze a 55 onto a skinny rim for fear of being sued. The taller, fatter rear will create more issues with gearing and geometry (rear jacked up higher) than it's worth......and the fat tyre won't improve the looks unless you spend big on a SSSA.

;)

Don't do it, put the money into refreshed suspension and the BB will be as fast as any bike (y)

Pic is just now, BB with 190/50 profile. It does not measure 190 wide as the 5.5" rim squeezes it in a bit. Sadly I sold the KTM so no comparison pic but it was on a 6" rim anyway.

Check out the chicken strips.....although I have been unable to ride my BB in anger with these tyres, the way the tread curves in at the sidewall probably denies full lean anyway. There is no extra grip from a fat tyre, in fact the "small" 180/55 will likely out perform a crimped in 190 section of either profile on the 5.5" rim. I will go back to a 180/55 rear as the 190 just looks nice, but doesn't add any value unless upgrading to a 6" rim.
