Who has switched from standard bulbs to LED? If so, was it a complete change, i.e. all lighting? If so, was the current draw measured before and after the change? TIA...

I have changed the instrument lights on my 1997 blackbird to LED, made the mistake of ordering single LED, which don't put out enough light, ordered the 5 LED bulb which lights up the speedo and tack real well , am using H-7 bulbs in the head light, which put out the same as a 100 watt bulb but have the draw same as standard bulb, am also running a TomTom GPS unit and Radar dector off the battery with a fused link with no problems with the electrical system.

I did my 97 blackbird.

Indicators - were 21w each - now 0.5w LED ( will need a solid state flasher relay to keep flash rate )

Tail light - was 2 x 21w brake and 2 x 5w tail - now 1w brake LED and 0.5w tail LED

Front position light - was 5w - now 0.2w LED

Dash - was 4 x 5w - now 4 x 1w LED ( white lights used but dash now lights up a nice blue !!! )

Headlights - Was 55w high and 55w low - now 35w HID high and 35w HID low ( and so much more light output )

I run a high/low HIDs. I used to have an led in the tail light but got rid of it. I also run heated gear and Escort 9500xi or an IQ from Escort. I have a MotoBatt Battery and Dyna Coils with new plugs, leads as well this summer. I burned the hid low beam in Sept. and replaced both bulbs. I had many, many miles on the low beam. 35W 5,000 k

Where did you get your front position light LED and the front indicator LEDs from? What size/fitting do I need to loom for?

I've got t10 in the dash and t5 in the tell tales but I found using the t5 led in the indicators in the dash itself causes problems with the indicators. They stayed on but still flashed. Now before anyone says anything, I've had leds in my bike for a few years now, front and rear. I've only just decided to upgrade the dash so the bike is completely led except for high beam, that's hid.. The rest is led including headlight

Anybody had a mot refused because of having a non self adjustable HID, I,ve had my hid in for 4 yrs and the same mot tester has mot,d the bike no bother, but now says new regs state that HIDs must have self leveling capability. I think its for cars only, obviously I could go elsewhere but he mot,s my other bikes no bother and he and his wife are lovely people.

It's not to do with self leveling.

The new regs state that any Halogen reflector headlight that has had HiD fitted will fail regardless of beam pattern.

Some of us have installed HiD projectors in the headlight.
These are passing the MOT because the projectors are designed for HiD - not halogen.

A few of us have opened up the headlight and installed twin projectors.
