wow, change your pants time lol. What make of tyre are they?
What's the date stamp on them?
I see theres are 2012 mark, but usually it a 4 digit code, the first to are the week, the last 2 the year.
So if it was stamped for instance 1416, it would be the 14th week of 2016.

If it's a manufacturing glitch or error, there's a good chance a number of tires in the same run may have the same potential issue. Making a notification through whatever procedure applies in your jurisdiction may ultimately spare someone a similar experience, or worse--personal injury.

Ouch . . . Still holding air pressure? Pics don't show any apparent trauma to the tire or wheel; so, delamination or rupture at/near the bead? How old is the tire? Mileage? Potential warranty issue?

Yes, still holding the pressure well .. until Monday morning when the below shall be installed instead. :)

:p:geek:
Well, in Polish you would use words like "Kurwa" and "JaPierdole" or universally "fuck" lol.

Did you change your pants? Haha. I'm glad nothing happened and you're OK. When you put the new tyre on, give it a good slap and say "that's not going anywhere" and it should be fine after that lol.

Morals of the story: Never buy used tire for your bike.

Happy ending:

“Get ready to live”…you’re gonna LOVE those 6’s…complete Nirvana! Should bring you 10-12,000 miles with proper inflation!

I was thinking about your Diablo’s btw. Looks like they might have sat in a bad environment long-term, got severely under inflated and when re-inflated, didn’t hold the bead due to being warped…just an idea! Regardless, you’ve got the best tire in the world now. Run 42/42 or “get the mileage you deserve”.

…got another set sitting in the guest-room 🤣 for the 1200F since I’ll be grinding-out a couple sets on her over the season (couldn’t resist the Michelin rebate); plus a ten percent discount from the distributor last month (saved $100 bucks). Great investment!
Enjoy, Cheers!

I agree, no tire gives so much confidence as Michelin do.
Riding those feels like being at home. And I had over 20 bikes, more than 45yrs of active riding, yes.

As for Diablos, I can not explain what happened with the tire.
Bought 2nd hand with good tread.
Installed by my local bike shop, all looked good.
After 10min of riding (and putting some temperature in the tire) I experienced a bit of bumpiness on the left corners.
Came home and saw the lump.
The rest is history.
