Ok
So what you have is rescue. Good news is the harness and the dash match. Your issue looks to be the ECU and it's connections. Reason I say that is the 2K's were an analog system and also what I call the 1st gen EFI. They changed over harness design and some sensor functions. I know you can run a 2nd gen computer on the 1st gen's because i'm doing it now. I also just remembered I checked another members 1st gen computer on it and it fired up.

On another note if he rode that without the front brakes I can understand why it scared him. That as it sets right now is a death trap.

Ok so before going any farther. Get a can of starter fluid. Give the air box intake a shot and see if it'll at least Fire up. If it does then you could jumper in the pump manually and see if it'll run. Then you can decide if you want to go any further.

So do you ever hear the fuel pump try to prime?
I had one where the fuel pump was replaced, but the pressure hose was loose/not all the way on the pump. So I heard mine try to prime and it was whirring. but no pressure and would barely run for a few revs. I put a FPR on with the same results, it wasn’t until I pulled the tank and pump that I found the issue.

Ha! I'm original owner of 2000 with ANALOG gauges and I seem to have the same problem. Ran into odd running problems late last summer and it appeared to be a fuel pump relay problem. I bypassed the fuel pump relay and it was ok for couple hundred miles or so then it really whig'd out and and just died one day a few miles from my house. That was late '22 and it's been too cold to get back to it to troubleshooting. I "had" done the wiring loom fix years ago and it was fine for thousands of miles after that so doubt that's the issue.
