For plastic type fabrication of bits and joining of others ive used the permatex plastic weld 2 part quite successfully. In fact i had a crack across one of those tabs and currently nose is off with that stuff and a small bit of fine metal mesh strengthening around the tab. Seems to have worked.
Here is one more to think about! GREAT TRICK I LEARNED IN LATE 80'S CYCLE WORDS "BEST TRICKS FOR QUICK EASY REPAIRS". BAKING SODA AND CRAZY GLUE! APPLY SMALL AMOUNT OF CRAZY GLUE TO CLEAN SURFACE THEN SPRINKLE BAKING SODA ON THE GLUE... UPON CONTACT THE BAKING TURNS HARD AS "CEMENT" AND YOU REPEAT THE PROCESS! IT IS SANDABLE AND PAINTABLE. THIS WILL NOT WORK ON NON POROUS OBJECT SUCH STEEL OR GLASS.... EASY SIMPLE AND QUICK! MADE MANY SMALL REPAIRS ON A NUMBER OF BIKES! INCLUDING BROKEN TABS.
Do to many crack repairs I've used everything and combos from superglue/ epoxy/popcycle stick plus bondo. Last has been plastic weld and bondo or plastic filler.
It was a bit easier having a cracked bike to work with as apposed to pristine beaut like alot of these guys have. :thumb:
When I had my nosecone off to fix a crack, one of the tabs that held the nose vent box in place came off and another tab was loose so I glued them with 24 hour Araldite and then fibre glassed all of the tabs to make sure and then gave them a spray of grey paint to hide them
Hey Jetfire, GORGEOUS!!! Job on the tail section! And also LOVE the foot brackets! LOVE them so much that I did the same thing! BUT in red! If you haven't seen it already go to cbr1100xx 00' 100% cosmetic makeover before pictures. Thanks!!
Clear LED brake/tail light assemblies.... There's heaps on ebay - at varying prices, but Is one better then the other? Obviously needs to be bright enough to be seen for both brake AND tail light functionality
Also clear indicator lenses for the mirrors?
I'm looking to do the switchback style...
have just put on Jaws straight bar conversion, on right lock the handlebar hits the bottom of the left hand mirror!
I'm of the opinion its been dropped in the past and bodywork is slightly askew.
is it possible to remove fairings and bent fairing frame back?
thinking of trimming screen...
you may have seen my earlier post about the cheap and nasty chinese rr that i gave a 0 score for on ebay
the seller was pleading with me to up the rating and i told him to stuff it
dont care if i get a refund or not it was just a test for the benefit of science
anyway im next...
I've been lurking for some time, but I finally have a question. I'm having my fairing lowers and uppers repainted (driveway drop; DUH) and will need the proper decals for the lowers. Anybody know where they might be had and for how much?
