I posted a while back that i bought a 2005 black bird and decided to replace all the cracked and scuffed bodywork and whilst cleaning up the oil hoses i discovered these were corroded to the point that where oil was dripping so i replaced these and had to drill out the sheared M5 bolts and helicoil ect whilst waiting for my Chinese replacement bodywork. This arrived and some 3 month later i've started putting the bike back together but can't remember how the screen etc fits etc. Does any one have an illistration or procedure etc on how to put it back together.

The bodywork its self seems OK, paint could have been better for sure but now the bike looks good apart from the wing mirrors and i can't find a place that sells replacement covers hence does any one have a link.

Other than that i also did a refurb on the forks and a decent clean etc so now the bike should be a lot more presentable than it was.

Thanks

Factory windscreen is mounted with open holes at the top 2 points and open holes at the bottom 2 as well. There are well nuts used on the fairing stay mount points. The 2 center holes of the screen use a special stepped spacer to located the windscreen correctly.

Many thanks for the prompt reply, i did put the top fairing bolts in a separate tub so i guess i will just need to use trial and error to re fit the screen unless i can find another bike to look at. Im also thinking of refitting the old bodywork as "winter bodywork".

Thanks

Also the very top 2 are actually shoulder bolt with acorn nuts that go on the inside of the trim piece. If you need pics let me know

Many thanks a couple of photos would be much appreciated.

With regards to quality:

The panels fit very well and i haven't had to adjust any of the holes etc. If you buy the panels via eBay there are copy right restrictions with them stating all decals are included but mine came with some fitted and laquered over but the nose cone Honda sticker was missing as was the darker grey flash on the nose cone an lower panels but either way they look a lot better than the cracked and scuffed original 14 YO panels.

The moulding on the tail section could be better if you look closely and the main issue is honda panels are probably the best mouldings and build quality on the market.

You also need to allow 8 weeks for delivery, an additional customs duty charge of £30+.

The supplier i used was Ultra Supplier and they had good communication however can't promise to do an exact colour match as they don't use paint codes but basically i'm fairly happy as a repair and repait of all my original panels would have cost £400 + decals. Luckily it looks like my bike has had a tank cover fitted from new so that still in good condition.

Your welcome to view i'm based near Portsmouth in the UK

Ok
Got to amend my earlier statement. The lower 2 holes have the well nuts installed

The center 2 are open and use the spacers the well nut is located in the holes of the frame stancion.

The upper 2 are open as well and take a shoulder bolt with the acorn nut that ties the upper ear and the inner trim piece all together.

These are the 2 style bolts used. the long thread shanks go to the lower holes and the shoulder goes in the upper.

Many thanks to everyone that posted and PM'd i think i should be fairly OK with this now. I asume i need to fit the black in fills prior to fitting the screen but a little trial and error should sort this out and then i can get it down for its MOT.

Thanks again

Ros just be careful with the spacers in the center holes. The little buggers will drop out and hang up in the body work and be near impossible to locate. And yes the well nuts are put in the windscreens lower holes first. You'll have to finagle the screen in without popping them off (take note this is usually when the spacers take flight). As you saw the well nuts are also in place in the fairing stay points as well before sliding the screen in place.
