Hi Guys
I remember Bees writing about rewinding the cct to give it more oomph
So on a spare i undid the clip and looked inside to see the mechanism
It really simple
A clockspring end that keys into slot in a screw and nut plunger mechanism
The mechanism has a 6 turn throw with about 20 mm movement
The design of the screw makes it impossible for backpressure to push back the plunger
But as the spring unwinds the forwards take up pressure weakens and so the slack may not be taken up resulting in a slack timing chain
So one way to counter this is to add 2 turns more preload wind to the spring than std to give it a bit more oomph
This is what i have now done

My current fitted cct is wound in 2 turns ofca possible 6 so the chain is not really stretched ..
But
On my other 2 xx's i had an issue where the cct slipper was stuck in place after years sat idle and i hadcto manually wind it forwards several times to force the slipper to free up

Have fun clockmakers
Paul
