Question regarding dismantling Givi E-52 topcase black band

682 Views 6 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  CalgaryBird
I needed to replace a the black band that goes around the case and is held on in the front by the two reflectors. There is no problem removing the reflectors as they are held on by two screws each, and the band that I want to remove is loose on the sides and corner of the case but I am stumped as to how to remove it from the back. E-360 cases have a screw on the inside that hold this band on at the back but the E-52 has no such screws anywhere.

Is there anybody who has removed this band who could give me some advice?

I think it's glued on. On an up note, if you destroy it , it's only $24.99.
Thanks for replying and the parts diagram. I sent a message to Givi USA today, but I am not holding my breath for a reply based on what I read about their customer service on the forums. If all fails I will slide a knife in there and see what happens. The silver satin trim pieces on the E-52 are all double sided tape (and broken on every case that I have seen!), so maybe the back strap is glued too.
The silver satin trim is very brittle too. Easily cracks if force applied to remove it.

Yes. That's why I said "broken on every case that I have seen ". And you have to buy a full set. Individual pieces are not available. I am going to do my own mod with some reflective stuff on those sections, some day.
Givi.ca, which I'm pretty sure is Importationsthibault.com, never had to contact the Givi contact person directly if they have one, but they are a huge distributor that just about every shop uses.

Thanks for that. I will contact them if I do not hear from Givi. I did not know that Thibault responds to Customer Queries. I thought that they were strictly Dealer oriented.

Anyway, I managed to complete the job that I was doing. I have two E-52s, with different coloured bands. I was fitting new reflectors to one and selling the other one so I decided to swap the bands for a more appropriate colour match. As I don't know how to remove them I decided not to bother with the swap as it's not essential.
