So i am installing a new aftermarket speedo and have to order a couple adapters to attach temp sensors and just need some help making sure i get the right size parts i would appreciate the help. Im attaching the links to the parts so if you could just tell me which sizes to get that would be great. Just btw i have a 97 BB.
I have a new in the bag OEM Honda lower rad hose part "#19502-MAT-000 HOSE, RADIATOR " which is for fitment to the 1997/98 XX. The nominal size measurement for the inside diameter of that lower rad hose is 25.96mm. I believe the upper hose is of the same diameter although I have not measured that hose.
There other hose I have for the 1997/98 XX is one of the water pump hoses part # "19521-MAT-000 HOSE, WATER " which shows as item # 16 on the Honda parts micro-fiche diagram for the "Water Pump". This hose measures out to a inside diameter of 25.25mm.
There is another hose off the water pump shown as item #17 with a part # of "19523-MAT-760 HOSE B, WATER " which I measure out to a nominal diameter of approx. 20.00mm.
Note this: These measurements are all taken with the hoses in their parts bags. There may or may not be some distortion of the hose due to shipping or packaging crush etc, but they should give you enough info to make an educated guess.
I'd wonder if your temp sensor adapter would even need to be used given that there is already a sending unit built into the bike for the factory dash panel. This one I believe is located on the thermostat housing (see water pump diagram) and is shown as item #25 " 37750-PC1-004 THERMO UNIT (Denso)" Could you not use it, or at least the stock sensor location to fit a Koso temp sending unit?
Oil plug adapter: The factory part # is shown as " 92800-14000 BOLT, DRAIN (14MM) " and is the standard oil drain plug which appears to go back as far as the 1976 and is used on many Honda motorcycles. I do not have a bolt to hand to check the thread pitch, but I know I have one somewhere. I have a oil pan sump from a 1982 CB-F but the plug is missing at the moment. Your Koso parts adapers show two with 14mm threads. I'll double check the pan for the correct thread pitch but it's difficlut to get a good read on the pitch gauge at the moment.
Awesome thanks so much tigre. Ill check into if i can put the new sensor into the spot of the old one or not and i'll let you know. Hopefully it will work i hate having to spend more and more money to get my bike rebuilt but i mean hey gotta do what ya gotta do right. I really appreciate your help.
Drain plug is M14X1.5X12. Last number is length. I don't think there would be any issue with a longer one (14 on the link you posted) as it's clear of any obstruction or moving parts inside, IIRC.
alright sounds good thanks for the info. yea that was just the one that came up first but they have the other one on there. again i appreciate the help
Hey tigre just wanted to let you know i did put the new sensor right in place of the old one and it fit in fine and seems to be working just fine. but as i cant quite ride yet, as i wait on more parts so i can make it ridable again, i dont fully know yet so once i get the bike back out we will see the final truth whether it is actually going to work properly or not. thanks for advising me to do that though before i went and spent more money haha
