Need parts and advice

I have a 97 CBR 1100xx. Its my first bike and I'm still on the learning curve of things. I need to know if it matters on the size of the regulator that I should use along with the voltage. I bought one from eBay and it's a lot smaller then the one that came with it. It's a 3 phase 5 pin. Can I use one from another bike brand like Yamaha? Also my right blinker does not work. If.i hit the switch to it the light shuts off if I put it to the neutral position the light turn back on. Any ideas? Also a cdi box if anyone can help. Thank you

Almost everyone on this forum says to not buy one off of eBay as many are of inferior quality. They all say to upgrade to a Mosfet type regulator.

Carefully disassemble (lots of small fiddly bits) and clean the left hand switchgear. Put a plain white towel underneath to catch any bits that fall out. Take care to understand how to put it back together. It will fix your indicator issue. Use some electrical grease once clean to keep it in good condition.

What's up with Cdi unit? I've never heard of one failing.

Buy a reputable regulator. EBay ones are crap. Yamaha units will work if you have one. (That's what is in my 97 bird)
Beestoy recommends putting a one gallon ice cream bucket under the switch. Hang it from the bar handle. He said that it will catch the part that wants to launch out. He was right!
Wasn't hard job but necessary.

I assume it’s a front signal that is at issue. These are duel element bulbs. It may be that the flash element has failed, but the run light element has not. Befor the switch disassembly, check the easy stuff, (bulb) and then procede. Note: the duel element bulbs are “indexed” to the socket and should only fit one way , but they can be forced in wrong by the unknowing. All this is from the little grey cells (brain) archive, but I think I’m correct. Btw, the rear signals only signal (single element bulbs) they do not glow during key on/motor run.
