You can also end up a year before depending on how early it is in the production line. So you can have a 97 frame tagged as 98 and so on.I have number 9 built for 2000 and its got a 99 Wire harness orientation as a result. So you can end up with a year earlier configuration and such but have the next year title date.
I can't find much about the first Blackbird that was brought out in 1996 not 1997 that a lot of people think. My frame number is JH2SC35A1052, but I do know that my bike is 1996 and think that it is the 1052nd bike off the production line from Japan, can anyone shed any light on this?.
Look at the number plate. There will be a month year date typed into q white bl0co on the upper right. That is the date of came off the line. The last 5 digits in the VIN are the build number for the year it states in the 4 large block numbers that signify its registration year it was built for.
For example mine says 7/99 my last 5 are 00009 and the model year is 2000. So the bike came off assembly in july 99 it's the 9th unit built for the 2000 year model.
