Keep at it Dave you'll get there. Maybe you should get a band and use it to help work that last 2% of range. A little arm assist so that your muscles know to move that little bit farther. Once the range is established then the muscles may work to get that last bit on their own.

Yes getting the last few % is where determination pays off.
When I was talking to a physio I asked "what is the maximum number of repetitions I should do of the exercises?" She looked at me bemused "nobody has ever asked me that before".
Explaining my excessive nature I said that saying "as often as possible" was not sensible for me since I would spend all day doing exercises ....

When I injured my back I was told to walk as much as possible, I managed 960 miles in 3 months, wore out 2 pairs of shoes and 3 sets of rubber feet for the crutches before I could dispose of them.

You will get there Dave.
