If you look in the book for the wax unit you will see the disassembly and cleaning instructions. On the shaft they tell you not to remove. It has a jam nut on the opposite side of the barrels linkage. That arm is connected to all the air bleed valves. Your going to want to adjust it so that the valves don't open as much. I don't have access to the manual right now so I can't say it the shaft is threaded through the barrel or not. Suffice to say it won't take very much movement to affect a change. I'd go with 1/8 to quarter turn to start. Fire the bike and take quick note of the rpm. Then quickly shut it down make your change and note the difference. That should give you a decent idea of how much of an rpm change the adjustment made. Then you can go back and tweak it with a bit more confidence your going the right amount. Just be sure to let it cool down before you button everything up and check it again to make sure it's where you want it
