Australian Blackbirds - Fuel Pressure Regulators

528 Views 11 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  maccullagh
Bird down for the annual winter hibernation and looking to change out fuel pressure regulator.

No reason to change fpr other than age, 2004 bird.

Where are you Aussie owners getting your fpr's and what brand and price.

Also what instructions do you follow? Have a Haynes manual but could be better.

Thanks

No, just Canberra. I am old and not in the best of health and only ride low milage anyway these days now the Snowy Ride is no more.

Plus I get to spend 2 weeks in Pt. Douglas next month, home for 2 weeks then a month down below Melbourne surrounded by vinyards looking after my brother in law's house and dogs.

All on someone else's money. So I would rather keep the cost of rego in my pocket as my riding time would be measured in days over winter.

Done my cold weather riding in years past.

If you have the honda workshop manual pdf then the job is a quick one. And no fairings to remove. Yay. You will need fuel line clamps either bought or jerry rigged. Think i got mine through honda bikeshop. cant remember cost.

Thanks, I was not looking forward to removing the tank. I keep it full when laid up. Surgical forceps will take care of the clamping.
Bought one recently in Townsville. Around the $140 mark.

Thanks Loneranger, was it a Honda one or other brand?
It is a genuine Honda one.

Mine is an '99 model but later fpr's run a higher rail pressure. Something of an upgrade using the later version.

I always raise the tank up at the front. Tie it up to something at ceiling level. Remove 2 bolts at rear and wriggle tank back then pivot up front. do the air cleaner if you need to while you are there.
G'day oldmacdonald...errr, maccullagh ;).

I changed mine (05BB) a couple of years ago just to be sure......

No issue but I was doing plugs, fluids, filters and sealing some rust in the tank so it copped a new fuel filter and FPR while it was apart.

I think I paid $200 back then but shop around - Wemoto or Honda shop or wherever quotes a keen price. I took the Honda shop as they had stock in Melbourne HQ warehouse and I didn't want to wait for an o/s delivery. All genuine parts, not ever heard of any alternatives.....

It's worth it as it saves finding out the hard way that you have a leak and your oil is being diluted and you are 300kms from home .

Should be good for another 19yrs - easy job.

I ended up getting a Honda brand unit for $160.00 from the Honda dealer in the ACT.

Part number: 16740-MAT-E22

There seemed to be plenty of stock and came in a few days
