    Wilbers suspension - lowered rear and front ?

    Hello together,

    I saved some money and decided to buy complete suspension from Wilbers.
    Until now, I rode with rotated triangle.

    Wilbers offers lowered rear -30mm (seen on the back, not the spring length).

    So far, so good.
    But I was also told, that I should take lowered front springs with shorter spacers, again total lowering of -35mm
    (also not the sprig lengts, but the lowering measured on the bikes front).

    It is an official kit from them, but still, isn't too much ? -35 mm on the front ???
    What about the front clearance ??

    [SOLVED] That was re-sellers mistake, he looked up for another bike.
    Nice, and trustworthy, when you buy at his shop for about 500€...

    ...... did I just read that you have lowered a 1100xx by 30mm front and rear?

    I gotta ask..... WHY?

    They are not that tall to mount and surely the ground clearance would be seriously compromised?

    Maybe you are a Drag Strip Racer? But the bird would handle like a Harley tractor in tight corners .

    I do not have the rear shock yet, just pulled a trigger on that.
    The front springs just came at standard length.

    I lowered the back I think more than 3cm with the triangle rotation

    About the front, yes that was the point I was asking about,
    but when a Wilbers re-seller tells you that twice..

    It turned out, that the re-seller made a mistake and looked up for Honda CB 1100 X-11,
    just because there was another customer with that bike.. Nice.
    For the X-11 Wilbers really do lowering kit for the front and rear.

    But for Blackbird, there is a rear spring only (-30mm, not the spring length),
    499 € with lowering and hydraulic preload settings was best price, I could find.

    Also he told me, and write me, that I have to do a service of the rear shock every 2 years, if I want to keep the warranty...
    Costs only 100€ by him... LOL
    I called Wilbers (again), they told me it#s nonsense, they give 5 years warranty with no conditions... Yeah.
    I have to say, every workshop, that I had to deal with, just wanted to steal me blind...

    Agree on that...... but when I was doing 20k kms a year, I had my Ohlins serviced every 2 yrs (regas and oil was only $60)..... when the spring shagged out I'd get a new one $180 (not for warranty reasons.... just for performance..... I was two up and usually heavily loaded, so I wanted perfect handling at all times).

    But now I do fek all kms a year, so it can wait till it feels like it needs new oil or gas. My forks only get new oil when the wheel comes out for a new tyre (used to be each year as the PR4 lasted 20k kms...... but now, the oil can wait until tyre time too or if I feel it has degraded enough to change it).

    So the workshop guy was half right...... assuming you are doing enough miles each year...... but to claim warranty loss if you don't come back every 2yrs........ BS!

    I still don't figure why anyone would want to lower a BB..... they are not a tall bike...... and if you are a bit shorter than average, surely a seat reshape would get your boots flat on the ground better than lowering the bike. If anything, the BB needed a 6mm rise at the rear to make them steer better...... or a 6mm slip the fork tubes up through the steering head...... but not 30-35mm...... that would be terrible and you'd lose cornering clearance and scrape your toes/fairing/pegs/stands so easily. It would also look silly, and the standard rear tail/brake light would be even more difficult for car drivers to notice, risking a rear ender. (just realized it would make using the centre stand impossible as the lift angle would be too acute.... I know this as I use a 190/50 profile rear tyre, which sits the rear lower than a 180/55, and makes it a grunt+ to use the centre stand).

    Ps I fitted an accessory LED brake light above my pathetic oem BB brake light for that reason..... following my mates (all on BB's) made me realize the twin bulb vertical stack design was not the brightest/most effective brake/tail light design for distracted car drivers.......
