Nice, flymyassoff. Great front end. The main problem is, at my location, it's extremely difficult to obtain a complete Gen 2 Busa front end. Thus, I will have to settle for the Gen 1 Busa front end. Yes, it's brakes aren't better than the Gen 2 but if, in 1999, those guys at Fast Bikes find them decent enough, I guess, they should be plenty enough for slow old me. Maybe, just maybe, with some decent brake pads, steel braided hoses, they might stop nicely. Maybe.

Quite a challenge to assemble all the needed Gen 2 Busa parts at my location.
Good project ahead of you. A pictorial , if not already done here somewhere , would be a excellent guide to all thinking of following in this direction. Does anybody have a list of which USD forks fit the best ? I was far from the first to change over on the VMax , as it has been around since 1985 , upgraded a bit in 1990 & again in 1993 , and finally got all the best stuff in 2009. They just priced me out of the market at $ 20K brand new in '09 . Just saw one last week at $ 13.5 K used , with upgrades to exhaust , ignition and seating. As they say when doing mods or upgrading to a newer improved version , " Save Up " .

I cant comment on if it is a true direct bolt on but i am guessing there are some things to address. I upgraded to a Gen 2 Busa front end. to complete there are some issues u must address. Most refer to it as a bolt on. Overall it is but there is some more work than most think. I would look at what most have used first, that being Gen 1 and 2 Busa and ZX front ends. Geometry w mine has pretty much remained the same. For some reason and i may be incorrect but the 600rr forks seem as if they may be a tad short.

GrahamcUK and I had a thread going about a year ago where we debated all the options Busa, ZX12, SP1/2. CBR ..... lengths, spring rates mods required etc. Each option has its 'issues', there is no true 'bolt on' ..... sorry no time to dig the thread out need to get to the office!

Just for info, the 1st gen Busa/TL1000R brakes aren't terrible...plus there are many other calipers that will bolt right on those forks. The bigges issue with those 6 pot calipers is that people don't maintain them, and with 2 extra seals/caliper, that's just more drag on the brakes due to the pistons not retracting all the way, and it's less feel when braking because you're overcoming the extra friction of the extra seals/pistons. That said, they are a tangible improvement over the OEM XX setup in both feel and power...it's just that if you can spring for the newer Busa front end, those radial-mount 4-pots are _very_ good.

(the 6-pot ones have issues in track use caused by the extry-long pads being susceptible to warping, sapping feel and power, but this isn't an issue on a street bike)

I agree with you DrDiet the 6 potters aren't bad brakes but the weather over here 'destroys' them. Show them a couple of wet country lane rides and they need a thorough going over, something that most riders never do.

    Re: ZX14 front end mod

Yup the radial Gen 2 Busa brakes i have are much better than the previous oem XX brakes for sure! Just part of the benefit in upgrading the stock XX front end vs improving the suspension alone and leaving the brakes stock. To do it all cost wise you may as well go current USD if able.

Hi, turbo. Great idea. Thanks for the information. I'm still pondering on all the viable solutions while saving up for the project.

Which year of the CBR600RR did you use? Has the direct bolt-on front end of the CBR600RR changed the CBR1100XX geometry? How has the handling changed? Did you change the fork springs? How about damping? Are the CBR600RR brakes fast and efficient enough to stop the CBR1100XX? Any other issues?

the forks are shorter, so there will be less trail and rake. I'm sure the OP will comment on handling. Seeing as how the OEM XX fork springs are too soft, the even-softer 600RR springs would be _way_ too soft. The brakes on any year CBR600RR are hugely better than the OEM XX brakes, so no worries there.

    Re: ZX14 front end mod

So been thinking a lot about this. The only reason i think the honda to honda swap is better is beacause it is closer to the original (not much machining needed) but is it trustworthy turbo? Also i see in your video there is no lock on the top yoke. Does the rr clamp fit the Xx's lock and hiss system? Also wouldn't it be better to use a cbr 1000rr front end? Just asking because here in greece there aren't any workshops ready to take on these modifications in a way that will work
