    Introduce myself

Hello to all, This is Thatch916. I have been a member of this forum since 2009. I have read a lot of good info over the years. I finally decided to pull the triger and introduce myself. I have had my BB since 1997. She has had several moods. Stage 1 jetting with ti needles, Corbin saddle, Piezo levers, Ohlin rear suspension, Preset loaders on front forks, Good Ridge S/S brake lines yes, all 11 of them, Armstrong wave rotors front and rear and Ventura luggage. I have been ridding since the 70s on a variety of machines. I also ride my 2005 CBR 1000RR on track days. It too is very modified, so it is only ridden on the track. Like I said finally getting off my backside...

    Cheers,
    Thatch916

    beestoys,
Thanks for the welcome. What is the best time of year to ride in Arizona... I don't want to bake...lol. That is the reason I have always headed North during summer months. Have you ever ridden to Banff Canada? Incredible place with awesome roads. It is like going to Yosemite on steroids...I have made several trips to the up north. I have never been disappointed.

    Thatch
I ride year round. But it's best between late Sept to early June July. But during the hot months a lot of folks will head out early in the morning. if you go north to Yarnell you hit the first ridge and paltaue. Temps typically drop off about 10 degrees. Then after you've made the climb to Prescott your close to the ridge. Temps will typically drop another 10. Come back down before 3 and you'll be still back before the peak. Temps tend to high here between 4 to 6 pm.
I haven't ventured farther north than the south rim of the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff. To many fun roads locally. But we have been thinking of making a north rim trip.
Also me and the 3 amigos are looking at a running the devil in Sept and a track day here in Oct time frame. Your welcome to come along

    Re: Introduce myself

    Thanks Gents,
Some of my ridding partners and I have a rule...lol If we show up for the next ride without a tidy machine, it will cost up a demerit, meaning we will buy the first round after the ride. Anyway, I love the bike. I had an 87 hurricane 1000f then 1990 CBR 1000f. Those were the bikes that eventually lead me to the first and only Blackbird in 1997. I have had other bikes for the track, but nothing compairs to the comfort of the Blackbird for the long hauls and occasional two up riding. The average day on the Bird is around 300 plus miles. Like beestoys, we too head to the mountains or the coast before the late heat of the day. That is the reason for the tank bag, it has a liner for the jacket...lol, to many times have taken off on a good ride and have the temps drop by 30 degrees or so. Thanks again Gents.
