    Bugger

Hi all . Thanks for the add . unfortunately blackbird ownership is off to a bad start . Washed the bike when I got it home ( it was manky with grease and chain lube everywhere ) now I have total electrical failure.. any idea would be much appreciated. I have checked all Fuses I can find and everything looks fine .

Did you find the main 30 amp fuse? If that's blown anything is dead...

    Re: Bugger

Put it out in sun to dry, see if you get a recovery. Then deliberately bit by bit make her wet till problem returns? Main 30 A fuse is definitely worth a look as suggested- it's on starter relay

    Re: Bugger

What did you use to wash the bike - power washer? Hosepipe? Or did you wash by hand?

    Re: Bugger

Well I am still betting on the main fuse.
This one is in a holder with a space for a spare and is located on my 2001 Fi on the gear change side of the bike under the rear cowl which you would need to remove to get at it.
Have you actually checked this particular fuse ? Total electrical failure would mean its this or your battery is completely flat.
I am still betting its the main fuse though.

    Re: Bugger

You may need to pull the main key switch. Have you tried to float or move it around a bit with it on. I had a bad flat spot in mine and it would go dead running down the road. I pulled the switch and cleaned the contacts and it worked after that. Also be advised there isn't whole lot of wire support there so it's not uncommon for them to break off. Your house wash may have been what it took to finish it.

    Re: Bugger

Don't overlook the simple stuff, like the kill switch. Even a slight bump while washing, or getting water in there can send you down a rabbit hole looking for electric gremlins . . . there's only one and he could be hiding within the switch snickering at you . . . (been there-- been laughed at).

    Re: Bugger

Oh, I thought 12.96 was the date stamp. That would be some kind of record.
