    Wire loom repair

Has anyone done repairs on the wire loom ? Specially reattaching wires that have broken away from the plug. I have a blue wire that from a look at the wire diagram is the knock sensor has broken at the rear plug.

    Re: Wire loom repair

Assuming that you can locate a correct new male plug (pin) to replace the one with the broken blue wire, a special crimper is needed to attach a new blue wire to it. "Eastern Beaver" has this stuff. Also, this blue wire, the knock sensor wire, is shielded, similar to a coax cable. This shielding ends 2" from where your wire is broken.

Quick and easy fix would be to locate a matching male pin with a short length of wire already attached and simply solder it to the blue wire at the end of the loom, and snap it in. Be aware that a common issue with these models is a code 25 fault, or knock sensor fault. Anything less than 100% connection here will surely result in an FI fault light code 25.

Also, if one wire is broken, I would check them all.

    Re: Wire loom repair

    Which plug is it?

I repaired the crusty test port in a 99

Also a broken wire to the ecu; easy to fix, I think you just need a very small screwdriver to get the wire back in
