    Re: Gilles Variobars?

I am getting rid of the linked brakes, not that I think it´s a bad system, actually for city driving I prefer it, but it is gonna go now. Jaws de-linking kit with braided lines I think will do ok for me. I´m not sure if there´s something else that can be done to improve braking, than de-link+new discs+pads? By the way, how much larger diameter those brembos are than stock discs? Just curious...

Changing the rear master cylinder really helps you get a decent rear brake. If you don't change it you end up with a wooden feel and a very poor rear brake.

What would be a good option to replace the rear brake cylinder with? There´s something wrong with the rear brake right now, not sure yet what, but I need to take a look at that anyway. That is by the way a really nice looking front end setup for a Blackbird.

If you de-link there are two rear masters that people seem to use.
12.7 mm diameter from an NSR125
    14mm diameter from a CBR300

Personally I prefer the feel with the CBR300 one fitted.

Like this one example found on ebay? The price seems to be quite acceptable. And this cylinder with this HEL de-link kit?

Happened to see a pic of that Busa top with Gilles´s, while I was looking around forums, that looks really nice... But for me, to get my project done in the time I was thinking, I better go with just cartridges.

    Re: Gilles Variobars?

The rear master off a cbr600 is another option too. It's what me and my son are running after doing Busa conversions. His is a Gen1 with my custom top hat and busa bar base and heli risers. Mine is a Gen 2 with my custom top hat and the giles vario's 100mm versions. withthe gen 1's we swapped out a later Gen 2 master it has a smaller bore and gives much better braking ability.
When you switch out the rear master be careful with it for a bit. With smaller bore it is very easy to lock the rear now. I mean really really easy!
Route 191 formerly Route 666 Some say that this section of the
road has 1100 curves in 95 miles.
