    Engine swap

Who can tell me if I can exchange a Blackbird engine from 1999 with an analogue dashboard with a 2001 engine with a digital dashboard? Is the wiring harness the same? I know for example that the temperature sensor on the thermostat housing must be exchanged. We can tell me more?

    Re: Engine swap

The injector harness on the 01 is different on the 99 it's hard wired. The 01 uses a modular plug. But if you swap just the engine you should be plug and play. With the exception of the thermostat housing. I don't recall offhand if it has a separate port for the fan switch or if it uses the same sensor for the gage and fan temp cut in point. On the newer 01 newer digital dash BB's the ECM controls the fan on and off. Your 99 used a sensor in the rad. So again if you swap the mechanical power plant and leave your stock wiring harness on bike it should be pretty much plug and play with the exception of the thermostat housing. If so then just swap those pieces and your good.

Ok, i did and do get.that.the the thermostat on a 2001 is switched internal.not a.problem to swap. If only the thermostat sensor left the to switch it doesn't have to be a.huge problem. The injectors wil i check.

Thank you verry much for letting me know
