    Re: Heated grips

Gloves are far better and you can get heated liners to go under your riding gloves. Put the heat right against where you need it instead of trying to heat the glove and your hand.

    Re: Heated grips

I have 4 bikes, all with heated grips, 3 sets of Oxfords, one set on my 1100xx, on really cold days the back of your hand is still a bit cold, and your palms get a bit too hot, it would be nice to have your whole hand warm though.

    Re: Heated grips

I got Oxford heated grip wraps a couple of years ago as I don't ride as much as I did in winter and it doesn't usually get too cold (below 6C) that often here in West Oz and liked the fact I could easily remove them for the ride home

    Re: Heated grips

Grips win for me- they're always there when you need them, you don't have to remember to have them with you. Flick a switch and they're on. No stopping to redress etc.

Gerbings here as well, got the wires and batteries for short runs. I found heated grips only warm your palms, no good if you suffer from Raynaud's in four fingers. Bloody painful.

I'm about to replace my 20yr-old Daytona Heated Grips with Koso Apollos.

Yep grips have downsides as do heated gloves and liners, shields etc. Just go for the combo which suits your climate, bad weather riding frequency, convenience and pocket depth (re cash to spend).

Personally I've never regretted heated grips and liked the look of the Kosos since the staged level button controller is integrated into the grip. V neat. Yet to test them for myself though. It's true re grips only heating palms though.

I agree with this completely the grips heat the wrong part of your hand anyways where I live the Gloves are a BLESSING the grips were a waste.

    Re: Heated grips

I have California Heat heated gloves. Awesome fit and great heat. I also have Hondaline heated grips on my wing. Can't feel them with a heavy glove on. Sure heated may be good if you get caught out on a cool evening with thinner gloves but your palm is warm but not your backside of the hand. Kinda like standing around a campfire on a 0F night. Your front is warm but your backside is cold... only you can rotate then. Tough to grip with the backside of your hand. Comes down to intended use... going to run into the colder months regularly or willing to wear gear and always have the gloves and jacket with you in a bag or trunk... then gloves. Just need to use something to get you home on a cool evening or a shorter ride to work to augment your heavier gloves... then grips.
