" Not strictly true. Riverbank will "fettle" your carbs to get it through if needed. I believe a 97 Fireblade recently passed with no fettling required, including a whole host of other 90's and 80's bikes. The test at £175 is ridiculous, but they are a good bunch of guys. Honda do not hold emissions records for any bikes pre-2001 so there is no choice but to have them tested."
I spoke to the test centre today to see if they've tested any carb birds yet. While they wouldn't be drawn to answer that directly they did give me insight into what they can do.
£175 for the test
£50 for a retest (ok that's news to me).
A simple carb tweak may nudge you into compliance (quoted a tick £90 for that).
Else two inline catalytic converters (£100 each) ought to fix any failures from what they've seen so far. Only one needed if you've got a four-into-one aftermarket set of pipes.
Other tip was not to run on a new air filter. They advise better to be running slightly rich than lean.
Hmmm risk £375-£515 to keep my beloved going or put the money into swapping to an FI bird.
Sounds a costly load of crap. If you can, hold out incase mag get somewhere and situation changes?
Another thought- could you get 2 fi cat pipes and pass? Then take them off. Unfortunately I just got rid of mine last Dec, otherwise you could have borrowed. Could prob pick up 2 with road rash 4 peanuts, then remove and sell on. If it works, very shortly their value could soar

Yer I'm trying to keep my eye out. Couldn't draw the test centre out on where they source their cats to buy and fit myself as a cheaper option than going through them!
Anyone know a Honda part number I can search on for the cats only. All my manuals/ parts pdfs are for carb birds.
Just tried my Reg my 2007 does not comform according to the checker its LEZ compliant but not ULEZ complaint
Mate with a 08 plate is exempt even though it's a 2006 bike. Just get the COC from Honda. It'll pass then.
Read this thread, it's all here re how to do that and then apply to TfL for exemption. Fyi until you receive TfL acknowledgement that you are exempt they still expect you to pay the charge (non-refundable).
Mallow1 if your after a cat exhaust there is a pair on ebay now this is the number ebay item number 264303172897
One step closer… I'm now the proud owner of two catalytic mufflers off a 2007 EFI BB from fleabay. About £25 each. Next to swap the old non-cat ones out (taking off my Beetle bags) and get myself booked in for a test.
Anyone suggest any top tips (fuel, fuel additives etc…. run richer, run leaner in order to lower my emissions)?
Leave fitting cans till just before you go for test so you don't kill the cats. Good luck and let us know how it pans out.

Thanks Chris. How will running the cats on a carb bike kill them?
