Fitted some new brake and clutch levers from Jaws.

Then rode to France, Switzerland and Italy. Currently still in France. Perfect bike for this trip, some lovely roads around here too.

    Front end vibes under braking.

Discs overworn - Armstrongs fitted and forks given a bit of TLC.

    Ain't life grand?

Re: What have you done to your bird lately?

Fitted the Armstrongs, went for a test ride today and the brakes were, well - like new uns — but on the way home I could smell oil-smoke.

Got home, crawled around a bit but couldn’t see anything significant, so I took the right-side fairing off. I could see and smell oil that had found its
way onto the top of the exhaust branch, but no trace of where it had come from, so I took the rest of the lower fairing panels off and went out again.

Five minutes later I was stopped in a layby watching the tiniest dribble of oil making its way down from roughly halfway up the oil return pipe.

Eventually, it would drip onto the hot exhaust pipes.

    Here we go again!

OEM pipe and O-rings ordered from a main dealer should be here tomorrow.

Picked me bits up this afternoon (oo-er, missus!). Cleaned off as much as I could of 20 years-worth of grunge from the sump and threw the lot back together again.

Test ride in the morning and Scotland for a week after that if all goes well.

Re: What have you done to your bird lately?

Well after I got home my bike died in the garage, so I put the battery on the tender. Good battery and bad stator. This is my second stator to fail, it had 73,620 miles on it. I replaced it today and she lives again. What a great bike Honda made! And to think, I called around my area for quotes on a 2019 Hayabusa. I'll keep waiting.

Beautiful, R1 version? Did you manage to go for a ride and get the difference from OEM setup?
