    Geoff, you say "
The charging circuit has only 3 elements - stator - RR and battery
". I think you are missing one element, the loom, the 20 year old loom. Best to wire the R/R directly to the battery and eliminate that particular weak link.

well yes of course but that is a MOD - a new stator comes with new cables - the weak link from RR to battery is that mess on top of the starter solenoid which is prone to melting around the 30amp main fuse B

Good luck with them for several years in two bikes.

Re: What have you done to your bird lately?

Started getting Daily Bird ready for it's trip to the Balkans next month.
Shock changed (the dirty one needs a service)
    IMG_2126.JPG

    Brake and clutch fluid changed.
Drained the oil, pulled the filter, opened up the new filter and it was rusty inside pick up a new one tomorrow and complete the oil change.
New tyres fitted to spare rims.

Plugs will be changed when I do the valve clearances ... and then the bike will be ready for the 3.5-4.0K mile trip.

    Nice shocks!

    Great performance for the money.

Been "at it" as herself indoors says.

Had bought an oem air filter that turned out to be a copy (one on lhs) so ordered another. The bike has done 11k kms so the top one is factory fitted. No debris in the pleates but as I'm in her...
The sponge sub air cleaner for the crank case breather had shot its bolt as you can see. Fowlers had it day after for a couple quid ref:17254-MAT-000.

Plugs were swapped for iridium ngk
    cr9ehix 9 6216

And the cause for all the strippage.

Convertibars where i wanted them meant i had to reroute stock lines outside the fork leg. Looked messy and there was a very slight throttle binding at rh lock. So being anal really<img src="https://www.cbrxx.com/images/smilies/wink.png" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />

Ones with the tape are stock and the others are carb model venhill + 60mm.
Worth knowing is that oem carb lines are 35mm longer than injection lines. Handy if you need an extra bit of slack for comfort mods. Not enough for me tho. Ordered via jaws.

Switchgear routing fun. Followed the manual here for install as i wanted tidy. Incidentially Haynes does not appear to have cable routing info, screw that.
Little filter makes me warm and fuzzy.

    Lines geting there.

All done, no binding on lock and everything clears the dash and ing.

    Tidy, ahhh...

Of note is my smart gizmo (argus battery bug) has indicated the battery is at the end of its usable life.

Been a while coming and hopefully explains the bloody loud backfire when i hit the starter, scared the sh1t out of me. Thought I'd hydrolocked it or something. No leakage from carbs is evident but I'd like opinions if you got em.

Recently installed an fh008eh mosfet regulator from a 2015 fireblade.

I prefer these to the yammy mosfets with fukawara connectors. The pig tails made install easy and it matches out mounting holes exactly. + went to battery via 30a inline fuse and i drilled the steel webbing the rr is mounted on for an earth/additional earth. Any negatives to this (no pun intended) rather than relying on the batterys - shared earth?

Shes holding nice 14.5 ish numbers. Stock rr was spiking up to 15 and i dont care what the manual says it was outta there.

Anyway thought I'd pour this all online incase it helps someone. I spent a lot of time looking for all that info.

I've been slowly replacing the vinyl stripes on my bike with paint. From a distance it looks about the same but the vinyl had begun to fade and peel away where it got warm or dirty.

Only had the bike since winter. I did all the normal service that it needed at the 30,000 km mark as soon as I picked it up. Besides a thorough cleaning, I haven't done much. I wanted to put a thousand kms or so on it before starting to modify or put any money into it to be sure I got what I thought I did. 1,500 kms so far with no hiccups what so ever, so let the fun begin.

The first thing I have done (thanks for all the info!) Is the VFR handlebars. A buddy swapped his stock bars (08 VFR) for some helibars and gave his stock ones to me. I have to say it is a very subtle change, but I am very pleased so far.

Check above the rear shock for a shim. If it's not there slip in a 6mm one.
Route 191 formerly Route 666 Some say that this section of the
road has 1100 curves in 95 miles.

Washed, changed oil & filter, lubed chain, & polished.
My next big project will probably be rebuilding the brake master cylinders and new lines (looking at Gafler).
The older I get the more interested I become in a cruise control. Is there a quality easy to install option out there?

Re: What have you done to your bird lately?

Did a valve check at 114K miles, slightly early on my service record but I wanted to be sure before I head across Europe.
No changes since I last checked 14.5K miles ago, looks like this motor is fit for a lot more miles

Still only changed one shim and swapped two in all those miles.

a couple of thousandths is going to make zero difference to anything - not something I would e
