    Off across Europe again

My wife and I are setting off across Europe again, off tomorrow. Bikes ready, ferry tomorrow night. Should be away for about two and a half weeks and the distance is about 2,900 miles.
I've done my route planning on Kurviger this year, great route planner for finding good twisty routes (it defaults to small twisty routes). I've found some really nice roads in the Alps although cobbled hairpins could be 'challenging' if it rains
The only motorway we will be seeing will be on Day 1 (boring part of N France) and across the N of Italy, although I've managed to miss a fair bit of that where I can (more time in the Alps )
Furthest point from home is either Croatia or Slovenia.
Not going to be riding 'point to point' on every day, stopping off in Croatia, Slovenia and Southern Germany (need to ride the whole B500 and other classic roads in the area).

    Here's to a safe trip.
Rough route attached below to show where we are heading

If you don't stop by for a pint I'll file a serious complaint to the council!

-Tom- I don't know where you are but we are staying near Porec this time since I missed this area last time. Arriving 24th and leaving on 27th.
Planned a route for one of the days, the roads look interesting on Google streetview.

I'm in Rijeka, I see you chose a nice round trip around Istria, one of our mandatory bike-roads is on your itinerary as well

We can do a roundabout around a once famous street circuit in Opatija, and perhaps hop over to the nearby Grobnik racetrack, a lot of history happened there and it's our little piece of pride and joy from the olden days I think on the weekend you'll be here they will host sidecar championship race.

Either way, let me know and most of all - ride safe

Glad to read that I have picked at least one good road (streetview is wonderful!). Tempting as your suggestion sounds I'm not sure my wife would go for it. By that time we will have had 5 full days on the bikes and have covered close to 1300 miles mainly on 'twisties' which can be hard going with luggage on. She will (I suspect) be wanting a day out of the saddle.

Sorry that I can't be more definite but everything depends on the trip down to your part of the world as to how we feel!

    Re: Off across Europe again

I'm back with just over 3,000 miles added to the speedo, which now shows 117310 miles (187,700km).

Sad to report but my Bird suffered a failure this year
On day 2 the brake light failed to show and it took all my technical expertise to diagnose the problem.

A quick jiggle of one of the connectors on the lever switch and all was good

    More to follow ......

    Safe journey Matey.
Hope the weather stays good for you, still hot at the moment. We are making for the Dolomites in Italy later this month. Not so much of a tour as we have booked a chalet in the mountains. Bon voyage!

I'm back! Made the Dolomites myself, wonderful area.

One thing I did notice is that the Birds riding position makes 'V' hairpins bl..dy difficult, my neck just won't turn far enough.
Sacrilege I know on this forum but I wondered if a more upright riding position would make my life easier if I insist on finding tiny mountain passes.
I even tried out a possibility in Stockach (Nr lake Constance) just before hitting the B500 where the Bird was in its element.
