    Good Midwest Riding

    Hello all,
I've been looking for some good country rides in the Midwest area - preferably the Wisconsin/Illinois/Indiana area. Anybody have any suggestions for their favorite rides?

    Thanks!

I live in a South suburb of the Twin Cities, I don't see where you are. There are what we call the Alphabet roads in Western Wisc. Kind of just inland from Wisc 35 from around Maiden Rock, down to Acadia and La Crosse. Also a couple decent (curvey) on the other side of the River in Minn. Wisc 35, The Great River Road, and on the Minn side, Hwy 61, are nice scenid roads, sometimes kinda busy with traffic.

Awesome! I live in Chicago, so most of my rides have been on the eastern side of Wisconsin if I'm up that far north. It would be awesome to head up there this week, but we just got a couple inches of snow yesterday 😣

Yup, you got the storm that hit us. The snow is nearly all gone and the weather it is looking up. It is a bit of a trek from ORD-land, but I think there are 11 curves in 318 Miles in ILL.. LOL My dad lives in Plainfield and a couple times, back in the 90s, he met me in La Crosse for a couple days to ride on the Alphabet roads. We've also been to The Dragon nearly yearly since before it was well known (1989 or 1990), and to Calif a few times, but that's all another story.

If you ever get west and your darling you can try our devil. Been told by a couple dragon riders that this one makes the dragon tame.

    Re: Good Midwest Riding

    OK then...first of all,

    Wisconsin...
June 1st weekend kicks off the superbike races at Road America (Elkhart Lake) and you won't find a better hangout for superbikes and showing-off than when parked in the alley at Siebken’s resort. Get a room in Sheboygan, Plymouth or Kiel to save a few bucks...be sure to ride Kettle Moraine's north side while there...then head north to the best road(s) in the state. Take 32 up to and thru Indian territory to 8 and 55 to 70 west...stay over in Minocqua...if you continue on, head out west on 47 and pick up 13 into Ashland...look for the back roads...you'll find'em. These are the best roads Wisconsin has to offer unless you’re up north doin’ the Porcupines.
…Continue North thru Duluth, Minnesota on 61 along Superior (Gorgeous ride) and head towards Thunder Bay...stay in Lutsen or Grand Marais. Once you get out of Thunder Bay ON, 17 is one of the finest roads I've ever ridden in NA...and that's saying a lot! But, watch out for Moose and NEVER ride at night…stay in Terrace Bay at the red Dawg Inn!

    Jump into Michigan…
…at the Saulte, head south and right after you cross the 'mighty mac" head due west over to 119 and check out the "tunnel of trees” coming in to Harbor Springs/Petoskey…float down 31 and grab 22…the BEST road in Michigan…in Ludington, you can always jump on the SS Badger for a ride over to Manitowoc (The last steam ship on the Great Lakes)…or take the high-speed from Muskegon to Milwaukee…or when at the Saulte, keep heading west on 17 in Ontario over to Manitoulin Island and pick up the MS Chi Chi Maun to Tobermory and come back in through Sarnia/Port Huron…or Continue on all the way around Huron and the Muskoka Lakes region (Breathtaking) and you’re your way back to the Sarnia/Port Huron entrance…avoid Detroit!

    Indiana, my home State…
…lot’s of secrets down south…lots of corn NW. All kinds of great riding along the Ohio River from Evansville to Santa Clause up to Patoka thru French Lick into Paoli/Jasper, Mitchell, etc and on over to Madison…etc. From the SE find 50 and pick up 250 this side of Bedford and ride her to 3/7 and down to Madison…on the return, jump on 46 thru Nashville towards Bloomington and here’s a secret…(our “snake”), located from Bloomington find 45 north to North Tunnel Road/East Robinson Rd…you’ll figure it out from there if you’re still upright…

Illinois...unless you're down south or close to/following the Mississippi, "that’s all I have to say about that”.

…Hope some of this helps...be safe!

My dog always pee’s on my wheels before a trip...why is that?
