Scrappy, where did you read that Mr Honda recommends changing the Cam Chain at 50,000 miles? I've nevered encountered that. Maybe I'll ask Jaws.
Jaws suggests to me that the Bird's cam chain should go 200,000 + kms.
I seem to remember that the original mechanical specs, published somewhere on the web by honda, mentioned it is 'recommended' to replace the cam chain at 50k miles ... some kind of service interval .... can't find the link at the moment .... I wouldn't take Mr Jaw's word as gospell but he is probably right about longevity of the chain, just dont mention to him about the guys who use manual cam chain adjusters (for 50-70k miles with no problem!) or mention fully synth oil in the BB ... lol
I guess if you ride like a granny it might even do 300k ...
Changed at circa 70K km....
There was little forward to back play in some links and I thought since the bike is in bits...
It could prolly have done a fair bit more but hey...
I would imagine the chain is good for very high mileage. The sort of thing you might change if stripped down for something else.
Life begins at 240kmph !
[quote = Poundstrecher; 151.846] Jeg kan forestille mig, at kæden er godt for meget høje kilometertal. Den slags ting, du kan ændre sig, hvis strippet ned til noget andet. [/ Quote]
A Danish BB from 1997 have gone 314,189 km "no problems" have gone 250,000 km with a cam chain
Have 26K miles on the clock, when starting from cold theres a lot of thrashing about at the top end then calms down when the engine warms up. Will be changing the CCT next week.
the bag of marbles sound came suddenly and strong but goes away after 4k rpm's. i was on a 50 mile trip and didn't hear it untill i slowed down. any suggestions? and has anyone done the work themselves? i'm halfway decent with a wrench but on cars. thanx
not yet but she only has 61.000 km ... still a young virgin
