Fault code 25 appearing above 5000 rpm

    Hi there,
Im looking for advice on my 2000 fi blackbird.
On cold start it goes up to 3000 rpm, then after couple of seconds it drop to normal (seems like cold start has been deactivated) and the fi light comes on(code 25). Also if the bike is warm and you go above 5000rpm the same fault code comes on.
I cant figure out what causing as it seems to drive ok.

Sorry to here about your code 25 Deco.
Welcome to the club as I'm a member as well. Had to change the ECU.
Code 25 is Knock sensor but that's not whats at fault it's the ECU.

I believe a member here has one for sale.
John Bike Bits has one and he is a sponsor here.

If you havn't performed the the Loom Fix yet the do it first and make sure the ECU is strapped down and not bouncing around.
I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks, i have done the wiring loom fix.
Does the key have to be changed due to HISS if the ecu is changed?

Hello Deco92 you don't have to worry about that HISS 99 and 00 don't have it. good luck and welcome to the bb family.

I have been through this two times now - won't be doing it again

TBH I would ignore it and ride on, when mine went twice same symptoms as you - the revs dropped very slightly when the light came on but didn't notice anything else.

One theory I have is that turning off the ignition while riding or a power glitch while riding causes this fault to emerge, be interesting to know if you had any other issues recently

When my light came on the revs dropped some and mileage went ca-put
Lot less power I noticed as well.
Seeing as you don't have HISS check with John to see if he still has the ECU.

Hi Deco92, grab some time, sit back and word search "fault code" in the search field (top right). Have a good read, check out all the different scenarios and see which one aligns with your situation. I think,,,,,, the majority is ,,,,,,, ECU replacement if you want to fix the problem. I did
