Me crying like a little girl over fuel issues

It started with a leaking fuel petcock which led to leaking o-rings of fuel joints so looong wait for parts and me purchasing a very nice carb synching tool etc.
Tore it all down and of course the damned springs are all over the dinner table and I get it all back together somehow and attempt to get it on the bike lost some bits in the Blackbird abyss along the way

Got tank all hooked up on a temporary stand next to bike with nice long hoses bike fired right up to 5k rpm's cuz the damn throttle is sticking lol no oil pressure for sure at startup

Went about synching carbs and of course since I had stolen the vac line for the fuel tank to use on synching tool she is running out and dies and I cannot figure that one out for hours
I run out and buy some more petrol to pour into the tank and like in the old days on a car I pour some into each carb haha to prime em up, then like a moron I fiddle with the sticking throttle and listen as the petrol gurgles out of the carbs down into the cylinders I am a genius.

Calmy put every single tool back into it's appropriate slot and disassembled my temporary fuel setup and gently rolled the Bird back into her spot til another day.

Mowed the front yard so I could feel some level of accomplishment for the day.
Buying wifey a gorgeous little 2012 R6 with 867 miles on it tomorrow (yes 867 miles) as her track bike $4500 from an out of work contractor that is just getting going again with new employment later this week.
I don't drink or do drugs but if I did I would unwind tonight ...........LOL
    Goodnight Gents

i can feel your pain. no shame in saving it for another day (and a fresh start), or getting professional help.

a few weeks ago, i endeavored to fix a blown seal on my klr fork, something i'd done several years ago myself. after spewing nasty old oil about the garage (why drain 1st, it's at the bottom of the tube, right?!) and realizing the bushings were worn and i didn't have a way to hold the insides while tightening the bottom bolt, i broke down and took it to a local shop...

these are the kinds of things one gets better at with practice, something us diy'ers only get sporadically...

Next time you go to break them apart put down on old white towel. That way they don't bounce out of sight.
    Foresight
If you ever pull the switch assemblies apart put a old white towel around underneath the switch.

As an old DIY man I've learned this trick.

    Ptxyz
If you put the spring back in and the cap a lot of times that will hold the internals tight enough to get the bolt on and tightened.

Can I pretend that I wrote the original post, please, JQ?

    (Why?)

'Cuz it's short, brilliant and makes me laugh out loud every time I re-read it!
