Re: Running rich and no power...

    The saga continues...

Thee bike ran great for 4.5 tanks of gas, riding nearly daily with no issues. Then after a 10 minute ride on deceleration I felt it go in to its "funk", and it came back out a couple seconds later. Then again while passing at 80mph...complete lack of power.. then it corrected again. The next day on warm-up it went back to running rich...SMH. Checked wiring, cpu, and battery, no change.

...If anyone has a clue, please help. https://youtu.be/av02zx8q-bk

    Regards,
    Nick

When I got my 99 I replaced the fuel pressure regulator with the upgraded fpr from 2001+. Don't remember all the specs but it pushes more fuel than the stock one that the 99 came with. While i didnt have all the problems you are having it did run sludgish. I replaced it with the fpr for the 99 and my bike ran better. Since your plugs are wet it could not hurt to give it a try.

Re: Running rich and no power...

Verdict... Two cylinders not firing. Cause, the clips supplying power to the coil packs (3) of them were not seated properly from the last owner I would presume. It seemed as if the clips were touching in the boot but not "clipped".

    Thanks all!

Yep that'll raise Caine with CDI systems. Just be careful the system puts about 300 volts on the primary side. It'll get your attention for sure (don't ask)
Route 191 formerly Route 666 Some say that this section of the
road has 1100 curves in 95 miles.
