    Running rich

My bird is a 98 carbie, end of last year i fitted a full motad venom system.

I haven't touch the carbs, but it smells like its running rich, its on standard jets. Which size jets would i need to get to make her run less rich?

    Re: Running rich

Hmmm.. It is more the norm that a free flowing aftermarket full exhaust system produces a lean condition not a rich condition. Jetting "up" is more the norm, not jetting down. The 98 carbs are jetted stock to size 140 on the #1 and #4 cylinders and 142 on the #2 and #3 cylinders (if my memory still serves, must check those numbers). The stagger in the jetting is, we believe, related to help keep the inner cylinders running cool/cooler due to less air flow over them, even though the motor is liquid cooled.

Take it to Honda, and have them use an exhaust gas analyzer on it. Its the only SURE positive way to see how it runs and idle, mid, and top end. What color are the spark plugs?

You will need to re tune the carb, you can get a dynojet kit to change the jetting and needles than adjust the a/f mixture.
