    Blackbird Black to Silver

Just going to run this here instead of semi off topic posts in another thread

    Ordered from Ultra_Supplier

Confirmed 12pc set although not shown in picture

I think all these Chinese ebay shops are all resellers from the same factory that churns these out

I have had my BB a very long time (Black) and I'm changing the colour from Black to this

All ordered and will take about 5 weeks to arrive - told them FI Decals and they confirmed it is a 12 piece set so will be interesting to see what comes in the box - fingers crossed it is exactly what I ordered

In the mean time I have all the paint for the wheels, fluorescent Red, Grey primer and final Clearcoat, also the rotors from gold to black and Front mirrors and rear grab handle - Grey Silver, will be starting this week while waiting for the fairing kit so should have all this done beforehand, I may do parts of the frame (just in front of rear cowl) Grey Silver

also ordered clear lenses and orange LED's for front indicators not sure yet about the rear as I already have the smoked rear LED tail light with indicators in there (but didn't wire them up) so might remove the stock rear lights - not sure

    Re: Blackbird Black to Silver

    first wheel done

    DSC_3988.JPG
The red flouesent paint dried with a slight orange tinge viewing in daylight - in the dark it looks red, not sure if I am happy with that or not, will go with it for now, I think red/orange will look just as good with the dark silver

Update - dam it just ordered a more red "red" paint and will finish the rear off with that after doing it with the current stuff - the front will get a coat of it too after a little prep work with a clear coat on top - don't want to remove the disks again so will mask most of it off rub it down a little and apply one coat (should be enough) considering it is already red. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Can't get the rear disk off so will have to work round it, don't have heavy enough tools for that Hmmmm

Waiting now for Ultra_supplier to change the decals from white to Silver (not chrome) like a light grey

They should have looked like this

    fairing set.jpg

But you can see the CBR is white not silver/grey also white on the rear cowl

    s-l1600.jpg

    s-l1601.jpg

    s-l1602.jpg

Not really a big problem but I don't like the white

now waiting for them to send me photos of the decal changes - I bet they do them Chrome - not what I want either, fingers crossed they get it right

So, do you mind of I ask the price?
I think I paid right at $300 US with shipping and I cannot imagine they are making any $$ at all.
Splendid work on mine considering the cost.

Out of interest, how does it look with the original black tank? The top of fairing and seat are black - maybe it will blend in well?

The original Black tank (under the cover) is in great condition except for a small dent (caught a shoelace on the rear brake lever and it fell against a concreate pillar), I have options if I don't like the colour of the tank cover, but will wait to see how it looks when I get the front done, it is very hard to match that fairing colour - I have made 3 attempts so far and all failed, spray paint (can) don't turn out anywhere near what is on the tin as I have discovered lol

No hurry and will see how things go, the tank can be done easily at any time - when you buy tank covers the color choices are limited anyway.

I have done a lot of work recently to the bike - LED's - Mosfet RR, some rewiring, still a lot to do, want to do all the black bits but it is nice to see some results after weeks of prep

    Geoff
If you go back to the supplier and it's ultra they can send a can of the paint they used so you can do the tank. One of the board members did that a while back.

    Re: Blackbird Black to Silver

Looks great except the tank. Get a plastic gas tank cover and have it custom painted to match the fairings. Ebay has some for 52.00, ebay item number 263827331904.
I always loved the look of this Blackbird with the red wheels. I can only imagine how pissed you were with the orange wheels.
