redwing are cheaper in some instances than most oz honda dealers, but they still charge like a dealer make no mistake.

Hey Black06XX, how about a larger picture of your avatar? I haven't seen one with F16s in the background!

Update:-
Bike due for its 1000 klm service ... Quoted by local Honda Shop = $250.00
Did it myself for $63.00 (Honda oil, filter) as per service manual downloaded from this site

And FYI ... Honda GN4 Oil (mineral) is sourced from Caltex.

Just be careful with doing it yourself. It's an easy job, but your warranty may be in jeopardy because the service wasn't carried out be an authorised service centre - your log book needs to be stamped by the service centre for each specified service.

Cheers mate, but the manual doesn't specifically say that the servicing HAS TO BE done by an authorised service centre ... And I think that this will stand me in good stead ! ...... Hopefully all will be well and we don't end up in court

Dragon, if you are not a licensed motorcycle mechanic, and the person performing service work is also not same, Honda will very quickly void your warranty I assure you.

I can call on him to testify

Hey It's an 07 blackbird, nothing will ever go wrong. Honda has been making that model for 6 years with just a couple of paint changes

Hehe I was quite happy with the $250... it's the $416 for 6000kms that pissed me off...

But mate, we both got our Birds new about a week apart... you got 1000, I'm nearly at 8000! One of us is doing something wrong here...

Sat in garage for 2 weeks and then I said stuff it and bit the bullet ... now commuting with full wet weather gear (look like Nanook the eskimo)

4200 klms and counting !

Keep counting, mate! I got 9800 now (ok, this is not a competition ) After next weekend I'll be up for another one of those 416 bucks services .

I thought I was cursed as well, we only started having some sunny days, it's been nothing but rain since I picked it up as well... and speaking of wet weather gear, I've burnt holes in mine on the exhausts hehe.

Ha!!! both you guys are soft..............I got my new hornet 9 very late august and I am up to 16000k's.

And I AM gunna get a bird VERY soon as well

A far as the stamped services go, I am with Tweet on this...........just go to a cheaper mechanic after the 1000k's job.

Saying that, on a new bike I will change both oil and filter at 100k,s......500k's and then do the 1000k's service. (it is amazing how much crap comes out with that first oil)

I also put a rare earth magnet on the sump plug to pull the metals that bypass the filter onto the plug.

I do oil and filter changes halfway between scheduled services as there is nothing better for prolonging ya engine than fresh clean oil............plus it is a cheap and easy do!

Jeff
