Has anybody removed the dual braking system from their bird and gone to a conventinal system? If so how hard was it to do?

Do a " brake de-linking " search, as there is quite a bit on this subject.

it is not overly hard to do, but a person should have a fairly good idea what they are up against before they start.
But like I said, there should be a fair bit in the archives on this subject.....

That is unless one of you guys wants to go thru this subject again....

As well, I believe that "JAWs" still carries a kit to do this.

You're up against it if you really want to do a proper job, here's the last attempt at a kit to allow "regular" brakes:

Brembo brake conversion kits

As you will see, not much real interest, seems most folk are happy with what Honda sold us.

I seem to recall a mention during one of my reads of those threads where you would want to swap out the rear master cylinder. I wonder why people would want to do the de-linking. When I first bought my bird I was somewhat skeptical about the LBS system and gave the delinking option some consideration. I was initially concerned about being able to modulate braking with the LBS. I've found that I like the LBS quite a bit. In slow stop and go or city traffic it allows you to use a single brake to bring the bike to a stop. From what I've read if you use the rear brake alone it only activates one piston in the front. If you use the front brake it activates the rear brake along with all pistons in the front brake. I find that I'm still able to get a fair amount of modulation in hard stops just by using the front brake harder.

I agree, as I have performance riden the piss out of mine and never had an issue with the LBS.
