| Hey to ALL,
I'm looking for info. on changing my current sprockets and chain! Any advice will be appreciated greatly!!!
Does anyone have any experience changing the sprockets sizes?
I'm looking to gain a little down low and give up some top end.
I've got a carb model and don't drag, just looking for more fun around town
Any brands that are better than others or some to stay away from?
I thinking about ordering from Sprocket Center and getting a STEALTH/D.I.D. 530ZVM2 Chain & Sprocket Kit front 16 and rear 46
Thanks in advance!!

that should give you a little more torque, but also make first gear pretty much worthless in the curves..

Vortex sprockets and D.I.D. chains are a good choice. Motorcycle Parts, Gear and Accessories at MotoSport usually has a good package deal with free shipping. They look to be less expensive as well. I have that same chain you are interested in with the anodized black rear sprocket and am pleased with it so far.
Drop a tooth on the front sprocket.
Also consider that your speedo will be off if you do this so a speedohealer is reccomended.

I too am looking at the Stealth sprockets and DID chain and was looking at going with a 17T front and 46T rear for a little bit extra pickup
Don't like the idea of the Vortex sprockets being alloy though, from what I have heard they don't last long |

I suggest that you drop a tooth in the front instead of picking up 2 to 3 teeth in the rear. Same ratio but less money and it also keeps your rear wheel in perspective of stock setup.

Finally found the time to install the new parts!
Install went real easy (i've never done it before!!!)
I bought the RK pro chain tool, awesome tool would highly recommend!
Was only able to get in a short 11 mile ride, before the rain came!
Bike certainly pulls a little harder now, I'm very happy with the quality of the parts.
I also learned the previous owner had already installed a 16 tooth front sprocket! So I only really went up one tooth in the rear!

i had a 15T front sproket .... great for light to light but is SUCKED on the highway! it felt like the bike only had 5 gears. great for roll ons, but it stayed in the 5k-6k rpm range at 70-80mph, terrible on gas. went from stock 170miles per tank to around 130/ (140 after installing K&N filter). bike is in the shop now getting a 16T

I didn't buy a 15T front sprocket for gas mileage and the bike still has six gears!

I just put on the Stealth Tri Metal 46T rear and 16T front and holy shit she goes like the clappers now
Will be interested to see whether it affects my mileage much as the odometer seems out quite a bit now because my usual 4 trips to and from work that were ~268km are now showing ~292km yet I am still getting to ~ the same point before my red light comes on
I will also be interested to work out how much the speedo is out because it used to show ~120kmh@4000rpm now shows ~118-119kmh@4k not really much difference
It is definitely out much higher on the speedo as I quickly took it to 200kmh and it didn't feel nearly as fast but hell did it get there much quicker
She definitely needs to be shifted much sooner when accelerating hard down low and trying to keep the front down in 1st is very interesting, she pops up much like a lighter sports bike now and 2nd gear power wheelies are just so easy
Will see how she goes and may change the front back to a 17T as I noticed that the rear is 44T not 45T so I have gone down 1 in front and up 2 in the rear |
