Hey My chain is tired and loose....

I went to the dealer and he said the chain for the bike is:
DID530UM G/B 110 at a cost of $145

This is a x-ring chain not an o-ring chain. Does anyone have great deals on chains? The sprockets look good but the chain is worn.

What chain are you guys using?

Check this link. Super strong chain for a good price. Just put one on mine late week. The bird only uses 110 link so you will need to cut it. It comes with a new rivet style master link as well.

eBay Store – P3 Motorcycle Parts and Accessories: Search results for EK 530 ZVX2 CHAIN.

BTW. Not a good idea to but new parts on old parts. Should be a complete chain and sprocket replacement. Otherwise you risk the old stuff ruining the new stuff.

Although I'm sure it has a lot to do with how you ride, and what kind of chain/sprocket setups you all have. I was just curious. What kind of mileage are you guys getting on a chain and sprocket set ?

I use Vortex sprockets and a D.I.D. gold chain. Motorcycle Parts, Gear and Accessories at MotoSport has a good combo deal with free shipping.
Fuel mileage stayed the same with me because I kept the stock gearing.

Also watch asking questions which have already been answered. As you can see I did, which I thought was a good idea, I got called a white buffalo.

For me being a nube I like to have my own personal threads that I can reference over time that don't have too long of a reply since because I have a short attention span.

..x-ring chain producers claim that their x-ring applications tend to keep the lubricant in the rings for more than o-rings...they also claim that they perform quieter too..i can verify the second too...

I use aluminum rear sprockets now. There is much debate on aluminum versus steel on wear but if you maintain your chain and sprocket you will get the same mileage out of them. Aluminum is also lighter than steel so you pretty much decide the pros and cons of each. True reality......it doesn't really matter which you use.

Thanks guys ! I bit the bullet this week, and ordered a DID 530 ZVM chain, Vortex Aluminum Rear (45) and Vortex Front (17) set, took her apart on tues night, put her all back together on wed night, and went out for one soggy test flight on thurs night. She sure does seem "snappier" but I really had to be careful as we got massivly hit by a monsoon storm and I had to park it and watch the skys open up. After that it was just making it home in the rain after it let up.

Thanks for all the great tips ! Changing out the sprockets and chain was easy as pie, although a dirty and greasy pie it was. When my girl asked how it was going on Wed night, I told her it was slow and dirty, just like really good sex.

Looking forward to exploring the next 20K on this gear !!
