Re: Ohlins Shock

It could be the site hasn't been updated. I would think GP Suspension knows what they're talking about when they said it had been discontinued. He said it only happened like 3-4 months ago. Oh well.. .the Penske will be sweet I'm sure, it's what I was leaning a little more towards anways.

Re: Ohlins Shock

They recently changed the part number from 46HRCS to the one pictured. I have a friend that runs a local shop and he has an account with Ohlins. It's still available, and still in the Parts Unlimited data base as well.

Re: Ohlins Shock

Someone took my picture down. Possible copyright infringement? Oh well, after emailing Dave at GP suspensions, I'm going to get a Penske anyway!

From what I could tell from GP's reply, it looks like the shock he normally uses on the XX was discontinued in his most recent catalog from Ohlins, but I guess it had poor documentation pointing him to a new/different model number that will still fit the XX. He said he would follow up and make sure he gets it figured out. I'm sticking with the penske anyways, it will do everything I need just fine and is several hundred bucks cheaper

Re: Ohlins Shock

My Ohlins supplier up here told me they will custom build one for me,valving, spring rate etc.Even if it's discontinued all you need to start out with is the same ends and length, and I know CBR900's were the same, just not all years some were 1/2" shorter.
How much is a Penske in the U.S.?They are about the same as Ohlins up here and harder to find.

Re: Ohlins Shock

I paid approx $750 US last winter and the Can $ is now par so it should be cheaper. I purchased mine from Triple Digits. He's on here accasional. The were shipped via Post and cost approx $60 GST. It's a remote adjustable and changed the handling wonderfully, even for a rookie geeser like me. I replaced the front spring and pre-load adj from Jaws. I did the switch at 90,000 kms or so. I'm at 120,000 at the moment. Two up it performs excellently and solo, fully loaded Givis I feel confident in the suspension. Prior she felt like I was "loading up" the tires in tight corners and installed a "lack" of confidence. Oh!, don't forget the braided hoses while you're in a spending mood. They're quite helpful. Good Luck from the West Coast.
By the by, I don't do my own wrenching like many guys do on this board so it was additionally spendy. The front and rear took about four hours or so and the brakes and clutch took five hours. I 'm whoring your post but while I was at it I replaced the head bearing and both wheel bearing. I'm totally amazed how strong my Bird is at six years of touring and 120,000 kms. CheersThis is one of the best motorcyles built and if she isn't she will become a "cult" bike, my opinion. It's a good thing we're keeping it a secret.
