swing arm nut removal
Trying to remove my swingarm to have it powder coated, only problem is after removing the bolt there is still a sleve in there with a nut on the right side that has notches instead of a hex. Question is what is the proper tool, and where can I get one? Looks like I could use a socket they use for 4 by 4 front hubs but probably wouldn't find one that small. Could I get on at the local auto store, cycle gear, tool distributer, or do I have to resort to the dealer? Already checked sears.

Re: swing arm nut removal
It is a "special tool", Honda part #07908-4690003, but can be unscrewed using a "suitable" peg spanner. But the special tool will be needed when reinstalling, to ensure proper torque.

Re: swing arm nut removal
You should be able to get the tool from these guys, Kowa Tools, AMERICA KOWA SEIKI, INC. Motorcycle Tools, Tool Cabinets, Bike Lifts, Auto Tools , they make em for all the manufacturers. You can find the torque specs here, Honda CBR 1100XX Service Manual 1999+ , on pg 1-17.

Re: swing arm nut removal
I bought a cheap 1 1/8" 1/2" drive socket and ground it to fit...
Works great...Hank

Nothing wrong with a little custom homemade fabrication.
Thanks for the input.

Ha! I just did this very same thing today! Although I didn't have to buy one, I had three of them to start with.
