Hello to all.
I have been working on a top hat design for the busa conversion. Drawings and mock ups are done. Next step is to get the drawings converted over and a couple of them machined. Is there anyone intrested in helping out with the cad and machine work via cnc or conventional milling ?

I'm thinking of replacing the front end of my bird with U/S down forks as a winter project. I've got access to CNC milling machines and am open to any pointers/ advice as to which forks to go with, 'busa, blade etc? I'm thinking maybe HE30 aluminium for top and bottom forks. Again I'm open to advice.

I have used both 1st and second gen for our 2 builds. 2nd gen are 3/8 of an inch shorter overall. Thay also have radial mounted calipers. But they cost more as well. You can use the lower triple if you take off the stops and make up your own new ones. Bearings are your first hurdle the upper is Honda specific on its size. Do a thread search it will answer more questions quicker for you. The second hurdle is the ignition tumbler location. Its the reason I designed the top hat I have.

Ok bumping this to see if anyone is interested in copy of the top yoke. 325.00 $ US a copy. I'll give you a drawing to modify the existing Busa stem to accept the Honda top bearing and spanner nuts to complete the install. This yoke lets you keep the stock switch with the bar locking function intact and stock bearings or tapered roller bearings if you choose. Bar options can be stock busa with a heli bar or clip ons of your choice as long as they are 50 mm. I haven't done a test fit but i am also thinking you can do a LSL type standard bar using a bolt in saddle to the rear busa mounting holes. The spacing there is a standard 4.5 inch spacing.

Taking billets over sometime this week when I can. So here is my offer. 500.00 gets a kit form with all you need to bolt up a Hayabusa front end MINUS the front assembly off a donor bike.
Included will be
Upper and lower tapered bearings and seals.
Custom machined spindle to use stock Blackbird castle nuts and Hayabusa top nut.
Bare aluminum machined tophat that will accept Hayabusa barhat or 50 mm clipons of your choice.

I haven't sourced out a standard bar perch yet but the lower bolt holes for the Hayabusa's mounting bolts is a standard 4.5 inch spacing. So if you find bolt in saddles before I do then you can mount up a regular set of dirt bike bars.

So if anyone is intrested I'll have 2 top hats available first come first served. Message me here.
Also if your intrested in just the tophat I'll sell it alone.

Ordered stock caged roller bearings and seals. Going to try and run this setup first and see if it turns in any different then my son's setup that we installed the Tapered roller sets in. I have a set of the Tapered's as well if I don't like the feel of the rollers.

Its in and maiden run made. It feels more planted and man you don't realize how much the link brake contributed untill it's gone. But the radial brakes on the gen 2 work good even running a stock pad. Going to swap in a set of EBC HH's to match the rear. Also looking at dropping down to a 14 mm rear master to get a little more pedal feel. Running the stock spring and it feels pretty damn good. Ride height is about stock unloaded. Next thing is to go up to a .9 or .92 spring per Leni's directions and up size and revalve the compression valve and stack.
Looking forward to putting her through her paces this weekend on the devil.
I'll get some finished pics up in the next few days

When you get to that point let me know and give me your weight. Leni can recommend a spring package for you. Biggest thing right now is there isn't a correct spring out there from what he knows. (and the man knows suspensions). He's going to take a look at mine because its stock and then go from there. The issue is the length. Everyone right now is using spacers to take up the difference so the springs installed aren't correct. He spent the weekend in South Carolina with the NHRA teams running the Hayabusa's in Pro Stock getting thier suspensions set up. I curious to see what he learned. Big thing is getting to him before he heads over to Europe for the Moto GP races.

Want to say it added t least another 1/2 gallon of water. The tube count about doubled. Went from 26 in the stock to 50 in the new one. I'll do a proper flush when we're back from the Devils Run and let you all know.

Thinking so. We'll find out this weekend. Ill be running the devil this weekend. I don't have the automatic side set up yet so ill have to watch it and manually cycle the fan when it's needed.
