Don't drill the centre piston so that it is enabled with the delinking kit installed. There is plenty of brake force available with the two larger outer pistons on the front calipers. Jaws recommends drilling the centre out of the front small centre piston's bleed nipple to vent the piston to atmosphere, preventing the unused small centre piston from sticking out and jamming the pads onto the rotor.

The rear centre piston is used with the delinking kit so you are getting all three rear pistons working at this end. There are two brake lines from the rear master cylinder to the rear caliper, enabling all three pistons.

Make sure you remove both hard lines that travel from the front to the rear of the bike. There are ugly and heavy.

Pics show the Jaws kit installed and then my next upgrade to GMaxx's Brembo 996 calipers up front. I am currently working with The Duck to get a Brembo caliper bracket fabbed for the rear.

Gaz.

edit: I have cleaned up the bolts on the front Brembo brackets since these initial photos...last two pics added.

Hope you screwed the bolts all the way in and did up the axle too mate?:crap:
Is there really a swirly pattern in the front 'guard or is it just the camera creating the illusion? Looks good if it's a real feature:thumb:

ok i have never seen it done but im sure it would be easy to do - why not get a short line and link the outer and middle pistons from the outside . you might need to upgrade the master cylinder from a CR1300 to cope .
but going by the parts needed it would be
2x 100mm short line ( im sure one of the tech heads will know what model of bike has short link lines )
2x double banjos

Agreed. The moment you add in the third middle piston to the mix, your brake force ratios are completely out and, like you say, this necessitates a change of size for the master cylinder in the brake lever assembly. I've done the math on my build thread somewhere...It starts to get expensive. Better to leave the middle piston floating and not connected if you are budget-constrained and just looking to install a simple delink system. The moment you start trying to add the middle piston in and changing master cylinders, you are probably better to bite the bullet and upgrade to Brembos.

IMHO delinking took the XX brakes from 5/10 to 7/10. Upgrading to Brembo 996 calipers and the Brembo 19RCS master cylinder took them to 9/10. You'd have to go mono-block calipers to improve on this. $$$...

wouldn't disagree with that having been through various stages of 'upgrades', but would add it is worth keeping on top of fork maintenance since you will rely on front brake more (unless you have a heavy right foot) and any weaknesses of springs etc will be shown up.

The 'link pipe' solution has been used but as Gaz says a MC swap is necessary ............. good brakes though!

Personally I like 11/10, frighteningly good :eyebrows:

Bloody showoff.
Hell impressed with your evil front end, Pedro (bet I am not the first girl to say that to you...) :boobs:

...not impressed with the 3" pussy stripes though.....too much M25 commuting? :poke::poke::poke::poke::poke:

+1 on the fork maintenance to cope with the increased demands of sharper brakes. Mine get pulled down every 10,000kms.

Also very important to upgrade spring/oil/valving and refresh fork bushes/seals so that the forks are perfect and in the same ballpark as the brakes.

I have Hagon shock and for my needs it's plenty, surely trade price is worth a look? Jaws is a good guy but, of course he's a businessman and has to make money from selling to you and a "try it and see" for trade prices has to be worth trying after all Hagon are manufacturers with years of experience so must be doing something right?

Nice one, Jody. Been for a test ride?

I have fitted similar springs and spacers to the Jaws kit and can vouch for their 'tried and tested' fit with the Blackie. John spent a lot of time and effort researching the correct spring rate, length and associated spacer length. IMHO it's worth spending a bit more to get a completely sorted and tested kit.

hi new to forum ... ok guys need some claification on venting front nipples after fitting Jaws delinking kit ..... do you drill through the nipple from top to bottom of nipple ( i.e. where the fluid comes out of when you bleed ) or do you drill the bottom hole( very small hole) of nipple through from one side to the other?

i was about to post the same exact question, i have new ones and was wondering is the lower hole drilled to top size, and if so only to center or completely through.... i shot an email to Karen, then figured i'd try here...thanks in advance for any insight

Guessing that you are referring to my photo due to the recent 'like' .... but I might be wrong!

Forks zx12R and yes it does take a bit of engineering to get them to fit (just as any front end swap does) .... if you have the odd spare hour http://www.cbrxx.com/general-cbr-xx-discussion/8724-building-duck.html the radial brake conversion was the second front end swap on this bike.
The two 'hardest' parts of the conversion were getting the bars right and getting the ignition barrel to look 'standard' and to also leave the steering lock operational.
The first front end swap I carried out with only hand tools .... then I got a lathe and milling machine to help out!
