This is a discussion on Dragon Bumps within the Southwest USA forums, part of the Regional Forums category; DOT ANNOUNCES INSTALLATION OF NEARLY 100 NEW SPEED REDUCERS ON US 129 IN 2008 - Topix...
Dang man! Dont post that stuff. I dont care if my stocks lost 1000 points over the past couple of weeks but this shite could give a guy a heart attack!
I saw your laughing face but I deal with state, local, & federal governments and I could see them trying this BS.
I did see there have been several recent deaths and one overturned truck full of toliet paper but I see nothing to confirm so I'm writing this off as BS and will go out next year instead of whippin a trip together for the fall.
BTW - I found a story that troopers are stepping up patrols on 129. In 3 trips out there I've never seen a cop.
Sua Sponte!
Doug, (Oldgeezer) wrote the TDOT and here is the response.
I think the response is positive and the improvements welcome.

But I hope people keep posting negatives so it will be less crowded for me.![]()

Have to be a member to read that page.
But, there's no need to contact the TDOT. It was a joke.... It's a rumor that comes up every year or so: Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway, Graham Co, NC
I forget that you have to log in. I auto-log on most boards I am a member of.
The main points from the TDOT letter was that better pull-off areas and some guard rails are planned. The TDOT person replying was very professional and wished everyone a safe ride.
I don't even know what Dragon Bump means but it sounds really kinky.
I was just in Marietta and planned to ride back down to GA from Northern KY and I was speaking to riders about the Dragon. I see posts from folks on this group mention it and I need to take the bird on it to break it in.
As you probably know. ride the gap during the week. Less traffic, more fun.
There is more enforcement right now. Make sure your bike and yourself are legal, tag where it should be, lights and mirrors on. Need a valid license and insurance.
When there, don't miss out on the other great roads. 28 towards the dam, and the Cherohala skyway are fantastic. If you go farther south, the Suches area has nice roads too. We will be back up the third week in October. Can't wait.
Hoe about clearing the corners and installing gravel traps? Might as well put in air fences and have a few marshalls on hand with red flags to warn of get offs![]()
