The Double X is fast, but due to the lack of Dilithium Crystals in Atlanta, I can't make it.

Our route took us to Hwy. 60 to the Rock Pile, right on 19, left on 129 up past Blood Mtn. and down to the East side of 180 for a bit and then on to the rough paved 348, AKA Richard B. Russell Scenic Hwy. From there we went south on 75 and hung a left on 365 which is a great road. We blew past a couple of Aprilia Tuonos and some other V twin somethings and proceeded to 197, around the west side of Lake Burton. This is an outstanding road and there is hardly ever anybody on it. Left on 76 and we had to tone it down some after the twisty area due to traffic and LEOs. We took a 30 min break at a bank on 76 and then went down 60 for another break at Dales on 60@180 west. From there we headed south on 60 to 11/129 and into Winder. Jim went home the way he knew and I headed south on 81, much to my chagrin due to the stinking HERD of Harleys. There were about 12 total, all riding side by side in two columns. I got stuck for about 30 mins. behind them because there is really no where to pass safely on 81 south.
Almost, no where......
Except for a 1/4 mile chute about 8 miles north of Loganville, with a dotted line no less. There was no oncoming traffic, I could see all the way through, and I down shifted from 5th to 3rd, pinned the throttle, initiated my pass, went around about 4 of them, bounced off the rev limiter, speed shifted to 4th, and absolutely blasted by the rest of them going up hill at about 140+. Showed them what a little Double X power looks like! I was laughing manically in my helmet and that was a good way to cap off the day.
Can't wait till I get my Penske shock. I won't loose any momentum with acceleration compression.
Not a bad day for someone riding 560 lb bike and starting to get AARP things in the mail..... |

I love that area.
All my favorite roads.
Was being a Pall Bearer this weekend, so no fun for me.
I really do need to do the Loop again soon.
