Rider down
This is very hard for me, Mike Skelton was my best friend, and I believe many of you knew him and have possibly ridden with him at some point.
X1rider passed away at his home yesterday of natural causes.
I need your help. Laura, his wife, is asking for a motorcycle escort to lead the funeral procession from the church to the cemetery. I know many of you knew and rode with Mike. I am hoping that many of you will be able to accompany me as we ride our last ride with Mike.
The funeral is Monday at 11am at Rockdale Baptist Church. If you can make it please PM me and let me know.
I learned a lot from Mike's long riding experience. He helped make me a much better rider on these past couple of years.

Re: Rider down
Ironically, Mike answered my own recent call for help. Though I can't be there in person Monday, I'll indeed be riding in spirit. My sincere condolences to you and, of course, to Laura.

Re: Rider down
Aw man. The Guru. There are tears in my eyes as I write this...this is a sad day for me, indeed...Mike and I didn't seem to have much in common besides our love of riding and our XX's. We became fast "buddies" early on, after I came on the board, as I sensed a similar wit, great sense of humor and tons of knowledge. When I moved down to GA I was sure I'd gain a lot from his knowledge and experience. That was a huge understatement. Since the time we met in person and went on our first ride together, no one has worked on my bike but him. When I saw what he was capable of, I nicknamed him "The Guru". I could go on and on about his insights and how meticulous he was, and how he'd explain in laymen terms; things about motorcycles that were foreign to me...This is harder than I thought...
Thank you for posting the sad news, Rodney. I can only imagine how difficult it was.
My sincerest condolences goes out to his wife Laura, whom I never had the honor of meeting, as she never came out to the garage while we were out there talking Blackbird; and to his family, and his friends.
R.I.P. Mike. You will be sorely missed! I'm proud to have counted you among my friends. Thank you for everything!
