The Apple Run-5/15/10
Time to roll through Ellijay Ga and swill cider!
Weather permitting as usual here in the south this time of year, we will start at 0700hrs. with a breakfast in Oakwood Ga.
Curt's cafeteria is a decent little place that is friendly to motorcyclists; you can park right up front! Not a buffet, you only get one pass through the line.
From there we will head north as follows:
The Apple Run: 270 miles of good GA tarmac, but somewhat less traveled road. Estimated total route time: about 8 hours.
This isn't going to be a death march like most of my day rides are, just an easy sport tour.
1st Leg: 145 miles / 3 hours 14 minutes
Driving Directions from 3439 Curt Lance Way Flowery Branch, Georgia to 3154 E 1st St Blue Ridge, Georgia
2nd Leg: 125 miles / 4 hours 5 minutes
Driving Directions from Blue Ridge, Georgia to 3104 Tanners Mill Rd Gainesville, Georgia
Each lettered star is a route change ( turn on a new road ). This shows up in the GPS as a small red flag.
May the wind be at our backs!

Re: The Apple Run-5/15/10 ( possible date change )
It's time to consider an alternative date for this ride as we have a cold front headed our way. This front has created some nasty storms in the central US. The forecast is currently calling for 40% rain on Saturday. However, I predict that percentage may increase.
I'm looking at alternative dates. I'm on-call the 21st through the 28th, so that weekend is out for me. The following weekend is Memorial Day weekend. I'm free that weekend ( Saturday through Monday, as Monday is a holiday for me ).
Let me know what you guys think about dates.

NOT the time part, Guru. The easy sport tour part.

Although...thanxx to you, I'm confident that I WILL take a ride back to NY one day!

Re: The Apple Run-5/15/10
I ran the Apple Run today after work. I had to hammer it pretty good to make it. Total time was 6 hours 45 minutes, with the last 2 hours 15 minutes running in the dark.
136 was very fun, but 52 at Fort Mountain is now my new favorite road in GA. Also, Aska road was very scenic.
It was 10pm by the time I got to 129 at Blood Mtn. I had to use the Force to pull that off. I also had to stop many times to remove bugs from the visor. At one point I thought I might need a pressure washer...
Anyway, I can't wait to ride this route with you guys.

Breakfast is at Curts Restaurant in Oakwood, Georgia @ 0700.
Post back a message here if you are in so we will know who will be along for this ride.

There have been over 100 views to this post, so maybe a few XX riders will show up, or at least try to intercept us.........
