I have done it several times from Road Atlanta to Jax. Various routes but they all mostly runs a little east or west of 75 and 16. Nothing to write home about - but since you said you were making the trip today you most likely already know this.

Trip would have been cooler if the bolt
that holds my left front caliper to the disc didn't fall off halfway there. Three zip ties and all highway for minimal breaking and I'm an hour out. Killed the buzz of taking the trip for sure.

All of the left side caliper mounting bolts torque to 23 ft. lbs.
I always put a dot of thread locker (blue) on the bolts then torque to specs any time I have to take them off.

Glad you are OK. That had to be scary. Anyone put a tire on for you lately? I would have a serious talk with him.

Ill have to attibute it to too many beers the other weekend when I swapped the stock springs for racetech ones. Didn't have the blue loctite and figured it would be alright. Let that be a lesson to anyone wrenching on their own bike. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Make a check list first. Don't drink any more beers than bolts!

    Or this happens:

I know that feeling. After changing out the springs. I was out on an all day ride. Had both of the right front caliper bolts come out. Coming to a stop I hear this clunk. WOW that didn't sound right. Pull over, get off and look. Holy moly. Luck that there was a hardware store close by. One of the guys riding with me ran over to it. Now I use Red locktite everytime that wheel goes back on.

Must not be using a torque wrench. I have never used locktite on my fastners and also have never had one come loose like that. ( knock on wood)
