    REMINDER & NOTIFICATION--off topic posts

    Reference:
    Guys and Girls,

There has been an increasing occurrence of threads moving away from the original topic.

Can everybody please make an effort to keep all of their posts inline with the original topic.

If you have a question or comments that do not fall into an existing thread, then please feel free to create a new one, and if the moderators or administrators feel that a post needs to be in its own thread, then please understand that your post is being split into a new thread for a reason. This goes the same for posts that are deleted for being off topic. We, as the moderators and administrators of this group, do not like deleting posts, but in trying to keep this forum organised, have to take this course of action at times. There is no point in getting upset with us for this, it will make no difference to the outcome.

We are trying to run this group with as little intervention as possible, and you assistance in this matter will help us all greatly in this matter.

    Thanks for your understanding.

On behalf of the mod and admin team,

"After careful consideration, in order to preserve our status as one of the premiere communities for information, technical help, and the joys of Honda Super Blackbird ownership, it has been decided that a paradigm shift in policy enforcement must occur to preserve the integrity of this board".

In an attempt to do this, a more aggressive and consistent stance will be taken by the moderation team, to curtail off-topic and unrelated post in technical or serious-topic threads. While we realize there will be, and should be, in the opinion of many, joking and playful banter, in the not-so-serious threads, where we can go in and have some fun(after all, this is still a fun and informative forum), we should not let the playful banter turn into the focus of a particular thread. We have many "threads about nothing in particular", where we can joke and banter all day long, but should not neccessarily spill over into other folks serious threads. And then there is the "back room" where what we say cannot be seen by the general public.

We as mods are not innocent here either; we have gotten caught up occasionally as well. It applies to all.

It seems that a lot of threads wind up being hijacked, usually unintentional we're sure, but hijacked none the less. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's introductions, general questions, or serious topics, they end up having a lot of joking, off-topic jibing and banter. There is no problem with general banter inside a thread, but when it derails the topic time and time again, it becomes a problem.

We will begin to delete--without exception--any posts that are not on target within a particularly serious or technical thread. For not-so-serious threads, on-topic banter is certainly okay, we will only prune, so as it does not derail the subject and becomes the focus of the thread. Please bear with us as we walk this potentially fine line.

Again, this is not a draconian effort to change the rules, be killjoys, or the fun police, but some type of order must be had; and to that end, consider this enforcement of the rules more, an effort to maintain the integrity of our board and the interests of all members.

I applaud the mods efforts. As a recent owner of a BB and to this site, I was becoming increasingly frustrated when threads, that originally seemed to offer significant information, would degenerate into seemingly juvenile banter or worse yet, denigrate those who were perhaps not as enlightened to the bike or machinations of the forum.
Maybe that is the price we pay to glean and share relevant information. JMHO

Re: REMINDER & NOTIFICATION--off topic posts

    ok - just two questions:

    - i start a thread
    - someone else is posting off topic

    - then it´s deleted without prompting me???

i mean, what if the thread is handling two themes then?
i´m not talking about "faggy" answers...

    leads to another question:
"off topic" as it is or do you call only the more or less funny and useless postings "off topic"?
    the question is: who cares?!

have you concidered adding a chat module to the forum? a chat function can hold all the small talk and irrelevant posting found in threads ,helping them be more clean and orientated...

I think I'm guilty of this, but I'm still learning the forum thing. I think I hijacked Nuters thread on the dyno but do I start a new one about the same thing or just add to that one. Either way if I hosed up tell so I can get in line with the rest of these folks. // smurf

You can start a new thread if you think it a suitable subject, But we may also take that option for you..

what the f**k does the fact that I ride a Vespa have to do with this? God god people, I have thrown myself against the shores of good sense since time itself has began. Look, I like a nice peach pie the same as anyone here, but why do I have to eat it using only my *ss. Ok,ok,ok,ok I get it, no more shall I let my phee phee dog (fee fee for those of you from east of the springer river) drag me down the side walk.

So I guess I am saying from now on, I will do what ever you losers(sorry) ....winners say, and just try to get along with all the new rules.

you guys are awaesome.....I love you.

No, not like the Gree..............( hee hee ....kidding)

Lois, crawl back in to the hole you came out...

    Here's a thought.
I do not mind people going off track in ANY of my threads. Hence I do not wish to have ANYTHING deleted from them.
I hereby confirm that ALL of my threads, have no technical value to me whatsoever and hence cannot be deemed "technical" and be moderated.
Seriously, I do not wish any posts to be "trimmed" in the threads I have started, since I believe, that any contribution on ANY of my threads, is extremeny valuable to myself, my friends and even my enemies!
If there is any "technical" information in any of my threads, people are mostly welcome to copy that and either post it in a new thread, or paste it in another one.

To the people who's threads I have whored before, that have not wished for so, I sincerely apologise.
It's just that I believe that life and expression, cannot be neither "rationalised and formalised" nor "imposed or moderated".

There's a 1000 ways to help skin a cat. What's important to me is that you lay a hand. It's not a matter of strategy.
    My hands are tied,
The billions shift from side to side,
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride,
For the love of God and our human rights....
