Now, that sounds hot! But, I think my head and I prefer a more oblong shape though!

Re: Check out this new lid

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY do these helmet manufacturers refuse to get with the times???

Good lord, here again, we have a high end helmet with bird poop for innovation.

Wow, more comfort, more room for your mouth, a better visor to look through, (and then this one...ha ha) quieter.

Just another " re-invention of the wheel "

For the money we pay for these things. how about some innovation and direction?

How about this.....a built in mp3 player, or at least built in headset and microphone, blue tooth, or maybe a heads up display.

Whatever....they know that , helmets , to us, are what shoes are to girls....ya just can't have enough of them, and the next one no matter how the same as the last, is somehow better, and a must have.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nice looking helmet though....

Anything would be an improvement over the cheap-o TZ-R I bought last year to replace my damaged RF1000, the best helmet I have ever owned. I tried and Arai once, for 3 years-gladly threw that piece of junk in a dumpster. Parts started to fall of it 4 months after I bought it. Not to mention I have a Shoei head! You know, shaped like a triangle...

Re: Check out this new lid

My Arai is lasting well. I used Shoei's for many years until I got my Arai Corsair. Most comfortable helmet I have had. But noisy!

If only I could find one with the internal shape of an Arai with the quietness of a Shoei...

I just can't see myself paying $1,000+ for a helmet. If it was wired as Lois suggests, then maybe I would.

Re: Check out this new lid

point is guys, is (IMO) when it comes to helmets, we are all getting bent over.

There is absolutley no reason why the manufacturers are not giving us a fair shake for our dollar.

I own 7 helmets (yes, as you all know I am a sick, sick individual) , and those helmets range in price from 250$ to well over a thousand bucks, and if I were to put them all in a little pile, and ad up the money that was spent on buying them, I imagine that the monies spent would divvy up something like this.

name = 40%

graphics = 30%

materials = 20%

R&D = 10%

innovation = 0%

Re: Check out this new lid

Just picked up a Scorpion 1000......it's quiet, and has some great features
cheek padding with a pump to inflate them
a built in shaded visor you can flick down
and a little lever that opens the visor about a half inch for more ventilation

for less than $400

I like the inflatable cheek pad thing, sounds like a good idea. As for the flip down visor, I have a helmet with one, and I like it.

Re: Check out this new lid

However, how many of us are prepared to pay between $1,500 and $2,000 for a helmet. As much as I like the lid, I can't see myself paying that price. For some yes, I guess Beemer riders have more dosh than us lowly Honda riders. Who knows. What would your wife or SO, say if you spent that much on a helmet? Really.

I've worked in retail, parents spend $200 for kids sneakers but balk at $35 for a bicycle helmet.

My head is worth it, how much is your head worth to you?

Where is your head at ... Falling off or being hit at speed it wont matter what's on your head, 90% of the time it's your neck that snaps ... although I'd stay away from flip front helmets as when guys with those fall off on the track the front part explodes ... not good ......

In the UK if the helmet has a gold sticker (British Motorcycle Sport) on then it can go on the track ... most flip front's here have them ....
