New Hard bags!

Hey guys just thought I'd share my newest addition to my high speed touring rig. I just got the Givi's the other day. I wanted something sleek and slender, which is nearly impossable to find. So this is the closest I could get. The side bags are e21's and the hold just 21 litres. But that's good enough for me holds a weeks worth of clothes and I can use the top case for all my gadgets and other supplies I need quick access to. The V46 top case is a gem. The mount is a little flimsy though. I added some car leg felt pads to tighten it up to the mount a bit and that helped. But it's still a little rocky. I wish motec or someone, would make a top case mount that goes above the Pillion seat as I tour 1 up. The case is way back there and up in the air. The affects on ballance would be musch less if it were right behind the rider. Oh, well. At least I can get a decient mount like the SWmotec for my bike at all.

The side bags are also a little sloppy. I was kind of supprised at the flimsyness of them. Kind of fisherprice quality. I think a utility knife could slice through them. But for $170.00US for the pair, I think their probably worth it. I didn't want to spend $500 on the big cases, and I didn't want to gain that much ass either. Waterproof, secure, and removable in a jiff. I think they will work. Now to road test!!

Re: New Hard bags!

Why are the side cases flimsy? If they are Givis they should be of no less quality than the top case. I suggest a brake lite for the top case and liner bags for all three cases. It it's Give why not the mono system? It looks fine as does your bike. I suppose the price you mentioned accounts for the purchase. I'm still a little confused.

Well these are Monokey bags, I assume you mean why not a wingrack? Well the wingrack system bolts on. So you prettymuch live with it. The SWmotec brackets fit the bags fine and they detach in about 1 minute when you're not using the luggage. Also I got the bags from a member here used. $200 for side casemounts , top case mounts, and Givi fitting kit. Hard to beat.

As for the side cases being flimsy. I don't know why I expected better from Givi. The Top case (V46) cost almost double ($250) what the side cases cost, and unfortunatly, it shows. The top case is solid with real good fit and finish. The side cases are nice looking just real flexable. You have to squeeze them right to close the lid. and I wouldn't lean on the lid either. The hinge seems a little weak. We shall see.

So to answer your question. Value.

Wingrack2 with E41 sides and top case = $1000.00

My setup = under $600.00

and my bike won't be mistaken for a buss from the
rear. (no offense to E41 users, there great, Just to big for me)

Re: New Hard bags!

I've always like a full booty so I don't mind how my Bird looks with the side cases on. I live with the mounting on all the time and I like the turn signals. I'm hoping to install the full lighting system from Twisted Throttle. At the least I recommend the brake lite and luggage liners.
